2024 Masters Tournament: PGA Tour Betting Odds
Scottie Scheffler is the favourite to win on the Masters golf odds.
We were supposed to have clarity on a merger between the LIV and PGA Tours by now, but that remains in limbo. Leading into this tournament, pretty much everyone from Rory McIlroy to defending Masters champion Jon Rahm agrees that the split is not good for the game and it definitely is not. A total of 13 LIV players are scheduled to tee it up this week with many of those qualifying like Rahm as a former Masters winner. If you win at Augusta, you can compete in the Masters as long as you want.

Rahm was still a PGA Tour member last year when he won his first career green jacket and second overall major title after the 2021 U.S. Open, while LIV players Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson tied for second and another LIV guy, Patrick Reed tied for fourth. Mickelson is a three-time Masters champion, Reed won it in 2018 and fellow LIV players Bubba Watson (twice), Charl Schwartzel and Dustin Johnson also won at Augusta. Rahm is trying to join Tiger Woods (2001-02), Nick Faldo (1989-90) and Nicklaus (1965-66) as the only repeat winners of the Masters.
Obviously, Tiger playing in any tournament is always the biggest story. It will be his 26th time playing the Masters, and Woods will attempt to set a tournament record by making the cut for the 24th consecutive time. Last year, he barely made the 36-hole cut but was forced to withdraw before the rain-delayed third round resumed due to injury.
Tiger has played once this year, at February’s Genesis Invitational in which he withdrew during the second round because of illness. This will mark the first time Woods and relatively new caddie Lance Bennett have worked together at Augusta National.
Another storyline is Rory McIlroy trying yet again for the career grand slam, which only Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Nicklaus and Woods have accomplished. Amazingly, McIlroy hasn’t won a major title of any kind since 2014 when he won both the British Open and PGA Championship.
Akshay Bhatia (+10000 to win) earned the last spot in the field with his playoff victory Sunday at the Valero Texas Open. Bhatia is the first former Drive, Chip & Putt participant to ever make the Masters field and is among the 20 first-timers at Augusta.
Augusta National is a par 72 at approximately 7,555 yards. The only major change from last year was the par-5 second hole was lengthened by about 10 yards as it has been the easiest hole on the course in recent years. Some greens have been altered a bit.
Only one of last 14 champions was ranked higher than 25th in the world and 10 of the past 14 were ranked in the Top 12. Thing is, world golf rankings don’t really work with LIV guys.
The Masters Golf Odds
World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (+400) has been easily the best player in 2024 with two wins. He almost had a chance for three straight PGA Tour wins but missed a short putt to force a playoff two weeks ago at the Houston Open. Scheffler won the 2022 Masters and finished 10th last year.
Rory McIlroy is +1000 with Jon Rahm +1100, Xander Schauffele +1600, and Brooks Koepka, Hideki Matsuyama and Jordan Spieth each +2000. Rahm has finished Top 8 in four LIV Tour events this year but not won yet. Including his win here last year, Rahm has five Top 10s at Augusta. McIlroy has missed the cut in two of the past 10 Masters but also has a runner-up and two fifth-place finishes since 2018. Rory feels so overdue that green jacket.
Koepka always contends in majors, it seems, and has three PGA Championship wins and two U.S. Open wins under his belt but not a Masters. He has been runner-up twice, including last year. Schauffele has a second and third at Augusta. Matsuyama became the first Asian winner of the Masters in 2021 and has been Top 20 in both since. Spieth won here in 2015 and came close several other times.
Tiger Woods is +10000 to win his sixth green jacket, which would tie Jack Nicklaus for the all-time record. Can’t say I recommend that wager. Just making the weekend would be a success for Tiger. Phil Mickelson is +15000 to win his fourth Masters off his 2023 runner-up.
Mike Weir is the lone Canadian to win this tournament (and a rare lefty overall to capture the Masters), doing so in a 2003 playoff over Len Mattiace. George Knudson was one of three runners-up to George Archer in 1969. Mackenzie Hughes was the top finisher in 2023 at T29 as Weir, Corey Conners and Adam Svensson missed the cut. Conners is +6600 this week with Nick Taylor +15000, Adam Hadwin +20000 and Weir +150000.
The Masters Golf Predictions
Xander Schauffele (+1800) is arguably the best player yet to win a major and gets it done Sunday. He has six Top 10s in eight starts this year and three Top 10s in his past five Masters trips. Perhaps simply play USA (-135) vs. the field (+110).
