Tiger-Cats vs. Blue Bombers Prediction: CFL Week 12 Point Spread, Odds

Following Winnipeg’s 20-11 win in B.C. last week, the top four teams in the West Division are separated by just one win in the standings. Hamilton is coming off a 47-22 blowout loss against Edmonton and the Ti-Cats now sit dead last in the CFL with a 2-8 record.

The Bombers opened as heavy 9.5-point favourites to win on the CFL odds, with the total set at 48.5.

Hamilton and Winnipeg have split their last two season series’, with the home team winning each game and the Over hitting in the last three. After Friday’s game, the season series will wrap up with a Week 18 showdown in the Hammer.

The only way to cash in on the Ti-Cats this season is to fade them as they are 2-8 both straight up and against the spread. High scoring games have been a staple, with the Over hitting in seven of Hamilton’s 10 games.

Winnipeg has also been a terrible cover option at 3-7 ATS and their SU record is nearly as bad at 4-6. The Blue Bombers have played the most Unders in the CFL this season, with the Over hitting just once in 10 games.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

It can’t get any worse for Hamilton after last week’s loss to Edmonton, who sit at the bottom of the West Division, as the Ti-Cats now have sole possession of last place in the CFL. Bo Levi Mitchell played the majority of the game under centre after Taylor Powell left with a head injury. Mitchell finished with 294 passing yards and a touchdown, but he also threw two interceptions to add to his CFL-high 12 picks on the season. It’s unclear who will start on Friday. Harrison Frost replaced Mitchell in the fourth quarter last week and finished with 95 passing yards and a touchdown.

One of the more perplexing stats for Hamilton this season has been their offence. While the Ti-Cats lead the league in total yards (406.2) and passing yards (330.1) per game, they rank last in rushing yards (76.1). Outside of James Butler, who leads the team with 440 rushing yards but did not play last week, no one on Hamilton has rushed for more than 138 yards this season. One saving grace this week will be Winnipeg’s league-worst rushing defence.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Winnipeg’s defence made life hard on Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke last week, holding the CFL’s 2022 Most Outstanding Canadian to 8-of-25 passing for 126 yards, no TDs and two interceptions. The Bombers lead the league in total average yards allowed (333.6) and passing yards allowed (222.7) per game, although as mentioned they allow the most rushing yards (110.9) per game.

Winnipeg quarterback Zach Collaros had another underwhelming performance against the Lions, completing 23 of 31 passes for 288 yards with one touchdown and one interception. The two-time Most Outstanding Player winner is fourth in the CFL with 2,306 passing yards this season, but he also has an ugly 5-9 TD-INT ratio and he’s been picked off in seven of nine games played. Running back Brady Oliveira has been the bright spot of the Blue Bombers’ offence with a CFL-high 689 rushing yards, although he hasn’t found the end zone yet this year.
