Stampeders vs. Blue Bombers Prediction: CFL Week 20 Point Spread, Odds
The Bombers host the Stampeders to start a busy week 20 in the CFL. Sports Interaction oddsmakers have made the Blue Bombers 2-point favourites in this contest.
Betting Analysis
These two teams met back in week 11 when the Stampeders handled the Blue Bombers 39-26. That game also included the home side Stamps scoring 20 points in the final quarter of play. Also in that game, quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell threw for his first career 400+ yard game (452 yards) but two out of his top three receivers in that game will not play in this game because of injury. That list includes Kamar Jorden who had a career game, catching 10 passes for 249 yards.
The Stampeders defence also held the Bombers to just 53 yards rushing as a team in that game. Good news for the Bombers though, they are 15-5 against the spread in their last 20 games against a team with a winning record, and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight home games.
Calgary Stampeders
The Stampeders are coming into this contest on a rare two-game losing streak, and need a victory to lockdown first place in the West division which includes the first round bye. In their last two games, the Stampeders have allowed 55 points against; this coming from a defence that ranks first or second in most categories. Last week in Regina, the team had no offensive support as the Stamps rushed for only 53 yards as a team against the Roughriders.
Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell had an average game throwing for 221 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Receiver Markeith Ambles was the best offensive player on the field for the Stamps. Ambles was playing in only his fourth game of the season, catching eight passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Three spots have already been handed out for the post season in the West, the Stampeders, Roughriders, and Lions. The final one will go to either the Bombers or the Eskimos. Ironically they will met next week in the final regular season game, but the Bombers control their own destiny.
Quarterback Matt Nichols appears to have cleared the troubled waters he was in earlier this summer, and has put together some decent games as of late, throwing four touchdown passes in his last two games. Running back Andrew Harris is second in league rushing but 107 yards off the first spot held by William Powell of the RedBlacks.
The Bombers are coming off a bye week, which they used to wisely get a lot of their players healthy. That all ended on Monday when they returned to practice. The team received some bad news as defensive standout Maurice Leggett needed help getting off the field (leg injury), and left practice on a cart. His status is unknown for Friday’s game.
