For the second time in as many seasons, the Blue Bombers and Roughriders will meet in the Western Final with a ticket to the Grey Cup in Hamilton on the line.

Last year, the Bombers edged the Roughriders 20-13 in Regina, but this time around it will be the Blue and Gold with home field advantage.

Forecasts show a cold trend for this game. The projected temperature will likely hover between minus-10 and minus-15 at kickoff.

CFL Odds and Betting

The Bombers swept the regular season series by a combined score of 55-17. In those two games, they out-scored the Roughriders by a combined score of 37-0 in the second half.

The Blue Bombers are 7-1 against the spread in their last eight games against the Roughriders.

Some interesting trends entering this game – these two teams have played eight consecutive unders. In the last 10 games in Winnipeg, the teams have played eight out of 11 games to the under. Also, the Roughriders are 1-7 against the spread in their last eight contests in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg holds a slight edge in its playoff history with the Roughriders, with a 13-12-1 record in 26 playoff meetings, not including the Grey Cup.

The Bombers opened as 6-point favourites at Sports Interaction.

Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Roughriders finished the 2021 regular season with a 9-5 record, tied for the second-best record in the CFL.

The Roughriders scored a 33-30 overtime thriller in the West semi-final to earn a date with the Bombers this Sunday afternoon. It wasn’t a marquee game for starter Cody Fajardo, who was 22-of-33 for 189 and threw four interceptions in the win. Fajardo’s best stat was his 89 yards along the ground that moved the chains for the Roughriders.

Running back William Powell rushed for 132 yards (5.2 yards per carry) in two games versus the Bombers this season.

Of note, the Roughriders scored zero touchdowns against the Blue Bombers in two games this season.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

The Bombers finished the 2021 regular season with a 11-3 record, tops in the CFL.

The Bombers produced 15 all-stars in the West division, 10 of them were first time selections including Quarterback Zach Collaros, who is also the division’s Most Outstanding player nominee. Collaros is 5-3 lifetime as a starter versus the Roughriders.

Nic Demski recorded eight receptions for 175 yards and a touchdown against the Riders (his former team) in 2021. The Bombers will be hoping to rely on the local receiver once again in this contest.

Star Running back Andrew Harris is still questionable for this game. The former Grey Cup MVP has not played a game since October 15.

Winnipeg has not hosted a Division final since 2011 as a member of the East. The team last hosted the Western Final in 1972. Home teams in the West Final are 27-20 (.575) since 1973.
