RedBlacks vs. Tiger-Cats Prediction: CFL Week 6 Point Spread, Odds
The Ticats are -4.5 with a total of 54.5 points – the highest of the week – on the CFL odds.
CFL Odds and Betting
Will we see another wild weekend of returns? There were a total of four kick returns for touchdowns in Week 5, two on kickoffs and two on punts. It was the first time since Aug. 8-10, 2019, that four kicks were returned for scores. There have been seven punt returned for scores in the CFL already this season; there were 11 total in 2024.
The Redblacks and Tiger-Cats split the season series the past two years. Hamilton prevailed 37-21 at home in 2024. Bo Levi Mitchell finished 20-of-27 passing for 299 yards with two TD throws and an interception. Greg Bell’s 15-yard TD run with 11:30 remaining and two-point conversion put Hamilton up 36-21 after backup Jeremiah Masoli QB had led Ottawa on two scoring drives.
The Redblacks committed six turnovers (three interceptions, two fumbles, once on downs) in their fifth straight loss in Hamilton. Ottawa did win the home rematch 37-31 in the regular-season finale in a game with seven lead changes. The Ticats are 5-2 ATS in the past seven meetings overall.
Ottawa RedBlacks
The struggling Redblacks went back to quarterback Dru Brown in Week 5 but were without wideout Bralon Addison (21 catches, 220 yards, one TD) and a few others in a 39-33 loss in Edmonton on Sunday night. Brown, who hadn’t played since throwing for 413 yards and two scores in Week 1 loss at Saskatchewan, finished 31-of-43 with 316 yards and two touchdowns against Edmonton. Former Elk Eugene Lewis had a team-high eight receptions and 75 receiving yards. Ottawa entered Week 5 leading the CFL in penalties per game (10) and ranking second in penalty yards per game (82.8), and it was called for nine more penalties on Sunday for 118 yards. And the struggling Ottawa defence allowed Elks QB Tre Ford to complete a personal-best 88.2 per cent of his throws and finish with a perfect rating of 158.3. The Redblacks already have allowed 12 completions of at least 30 yards on the season. Ottawa is 1-5 ATS in its past six.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats
I previewed Hamilton’s game Week 5 game in Toronto and projected a 27-25 Ticats victory, but they did better than that in a 51-38 win. They put up 415 yards of net offence keyed by a monster game from receiver Kenny Lawler, who had six catches for 207 yards and three scores. The yardage was a career high, surpassing his 205-yard total while with Winnipeg. Lawler leads the league in receiving yards (483) and TD catches (five). QB Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 332 yards and had five passing scores for just the third time in his CFL career. He also reached the 40,000-yard career mark and has just one interception this year (compared to nine TDs) in 145 pass attempts. Kiondre Smith and Tyler Ternowski also had TD grabs vs. the Argos. A turning point was an interception by the Ticats’ Dashaun Amos in the first quarter against his former team as Toronto had scored a touchdown on the game’s first drive. Hamilton was able to get seven points off of the turnover and the Argos would not score again in the first half. The Ticats are 8-4 ATS in their past 12 games overall.
