Lions vs. Elks Prediction: CFL Week 7 Point Spread, Odds
The standalone Friday night game to kick off CFL Week 7 looks like a mismatch as the one-win B.C. Lions visit the one-loss Elks in a West Division matchup to conclude the season series. Edmonton is -2.5 on the CFL odds with a total of 59.5 points.
CFL Odds and Betting
B.C. eyes its first road win of the season in its third away game, while Edmonton is 2-0 at home. The Elks are +450 third-favourites to win the Grey Cup, while the Lions have fairly short odds at +750 considering they are 1-4 overall
Friday will already conclude the season series as in Week 5, the Elks lost 36-24 at B.C. in the Kelowna Apple Bowl – still Edmonton’s only loss. James Butler was the offensive star for the Lions, rushing for 135 yards and two touchdowns. Both scores came in the second quarter to turn a 14-10 deficit into a 23-14 advantage for B.C. Elks quarterback Cody Fajardo completed 31 of 54 passes for 395 yards and had three touchdown tosses, two to Kaion Julien-Grant and one to Austin Mack. But the Elks could get nothing done on the ground. Star tailback Justin Rankin was held to 19 yards but did set CFL career-highs with 10 catches and 100 receiving yards.
“We were never really in this game,” Elks head coach Mark Kilam afterward. “We kind of started to make a game of it late, and every time we had a little bit of momentum or started to get things going, we had a negative play and that’s what set us back.”
B.C. has now won four straight games in the series with Edmonton’s last win at home in August 2024. The Lions are 11-2 ATS in the past 13 meetings. The total has landed under in seven of the past 10.
BC Lions
The Lions have not played since that win over Edmonton in Week 5, for which tailback James Butler was named of the CFL’s top three Players of the Week for that week. He averaged 9.0 yards per carry with those two scores and also had three receptions for 27 yards.
The team will have a new special teams coordinator as well with Dennis McKnight hired Monday. The American and former NFL offensive lineman was most recently in the same role with Hamilton from 2024-25. McKnight, who got his first CFL coaching job with Edmonton in 2007, replaces the fired Cory McDiarmid.
Wideout Kieran Poissant has been out injured since Week 3 but may return Friday. In two games, he has five catches for 69 yards. The Lions are 1-5-1 ATS in their past seven away.
Edmonton Elks
Edmonton was a 6.5-point home favourite last Thursday vs. Ottawa and rolled to a 40-19 win. Tailback and league MVP candidate Justin Rankin scored three touchdowns with 150 yards from scrimmage, while QB Cody Fajardo threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns. The Elks had 555 yards of offence.
Edmonton’s defence had four interceptions, two by Kordell Jackson (also had three tackles and two passes defended), and held Ottawa to just 25 yards rushing. Kicker Vincent Blanchard made all four of his field-goal attempts to remain perfect this season at 13-for-13 on field goals.
It appears Edmonton got out of that with no major injuries and in fact wideout Joe Robustelli might make his season debut Friday off a hamstring issue. The Elks are 7-1 ATS in their past eight at home and will be itching for payback.
