Blue Bombers vs. Argonauts Prediction: CFL Week 6 Point Spread, Odds

It’s a pair of 2-2 teams in the standalone Friday night CFL Week 6 game as the Toronto Argonauts continue their brutal season-opening road trip by visiting Winnipeg.

The Blue Bombers are the only home dogs of the week at +1.5 on the CFL odds, and the total is 59.5.

CFL Odds and Betting

Nothing quite makes sense with Winnipeg considering that it is 2-0 away and 0-2 at home. Toronto would just like to have a true home game, still stuck on the road due to the World Cup – although there are no more games in Canada. But BMO Field still must be retrofitted back to CFL standards. The Argos will finally play there in Week 10.

Friday marks the first of two regular-season meetings between the clubs with Toronto also visiting Princess Auto Stadium in Week 17, but in that one the Argos will be designated as the “home” team.

Winnipeg had lost four straight games in the series until a 40-31 home victory last season. Trey Vaval had one of the great special teams games in Blue Bombers history by returning both a punt and kickoff for touchdowns. Chris Streveler completed 17 of his 21 passes for 173 yards, three interceptions and a rushing touchdown. Nick Arbuckle completed 22 of his 39 passes for 327 yards, two touchdowns and an interception for the Argos. Damonte Coxie went bananas with nine catches for 187 yards and two scores.

Toronto is 4-1 ATS in the past five meetings. The over is 7-3 in the past 10 in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Toronto was a short underdog last Thursday in Calgary but got its doors blown off, 58-36 – obviously a season high in points allowed. The Argos could not stop Stamps QB Vernon Adams Jr., who tied a franchise record with six passing touchdowns while adding another on the ground.

Calgary had 496 yards of offence and four different receivers caught scoring passes. The Stamps entered the game last in the league in net offence per game.

Toronto was nearly as good offensively with 466 yards. Chad Kelly threw three touchdown passes and added another on the ground but did have two more picks and leads the league by far with eight interceptions. Kelly was benched late against the Stamps but only due to the game being out of reach.

Damonte Coxie finished with 148 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Makai Polk had two scores. Doesn’t appear the Argos suffered any major injuries. They are 1-5 ATS in their past six road games.

Toronto Argonauts

Winnipeg was a 3.5-point underdog last week at Hamilton but won a 14-13 slugfest thanks largely to stellar games from backup quarterback Taylor Elgersma and defensive back Major Williams. Only three of 10 passes thrown into Williams’ coverage were completed, and he an interception and three tackles.

Bombers starting QB Zach Collaros left with an upper body injury on the first play of the second quarter, and Elgersma led a comeback from down 13-4 at the half. The rookie completed 11 of 15 passes for 86 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions and captained the game-winning drive that was capped by Sergio Castillo’s 23-yard field goal with 21 seconds left – the first time Winnipeg had the lead.

Brady Oliveira ran seven straight times for 40 yards before Castillo’s winner. As of publication, the Blue Bombers have not released an update on Collaros’ status, but that they are home underdogs gives a hint. The recently acquired Dru Brown could make his Bombers debut if Collaros sits. The under is 5-1 in Winnipeg’s past six at home.
