Lions’ Vernon Adams Jr’s Injury Status Unknown
The hosts equipped themselves admirably for the rest of the game despite Adams Jr’s absence. Backup QB Dane Evans took over an threw 16-for-25 and 219 yards. He even tossed a touchdown pass. BC won the game 19-9 to improve to 5-1 on the season and still leads the West Division.
It’s been a terrible season in the CFL for quarterbacks billed as number one starters during training camp. The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are without Bo Levi Mitchell for an extended period of time, as are the Saskatchewan Roughriders without Trevor Harris. The Ottawa Redblacks lost Jeremiah Masoli for the remainder of the season and, worse still, it happened for the second year in a row.
As such, QBs like Dustin Crum, Dane Evans, and Mason Fine are getting significant playing time this season, and certainly a lot more than what they were projected to. For fans, it’s disappointing insofar as they’ll miss out on seeing their best players take to the field, but as for the might happen in the weeks and months to come in the CFL, it makes for a very intriguing wrinkle. A lot of CFL Grey Cup odds are in flux, that’s for sure.
