Argonauts vs. Stampeders Prediction: CFL Week 20 Point Spread, Odds
It’s the penultimate week of the CFL’s regular season and the last of four games on Saturday night features disappointing Toronto in its finale visiting Calgary with the Argos eliminated from the playoff chase and the Stamps trying to clinch a spot.
Calgary is -9.5 on the CFL odds with a total of 52.5 points.
CFL Odds and Betting
Sitting 5-12 in the East Division, about the only things defending Grey Cup champion Toronto have to play for are a spoiler role in its final game of the season, some pride and to avoid finishing last in the division as it battles Ottawa to avoid that distinction.
Saskatchewan is the West Division champion. B.C. and Calgary are technically tied for second at 9-7, but the Lions win the tiebreaker and also have clinched a playoff spot. Those two and the top two teams from the East, Hamilton and Montreal, are the lone clubs to have clinched a spot in the post-season thus far.
The Stampeders’ magic number for clinching a playoff spot is one: A single win the rest of the way or a single loss by Edmonton. The Elks staved off elimination last Saturday with a 25-20 home win over Winnipeg.
These clubs have split the season series the past two years. Calgary tries for the sweep as it was a short underdog Week 2 in Toronto but won, 29-19, ruining the Argos’ home opener and championship banner unveiling. Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 301 yards and rushed for a score. Nick Arbuckle threw for 309 yards, a TD and two picks in the losing effort.
Calgary is 6-1 ATS in the past seven meetings. The total has landed under in 10 of the previous 14.
Toronto Argonauts
The Argos are playing out the string without injured QB Nick Arbuckle due to a shoulder issue. Last Friday, Toronto was +10.5 in Saskatchewan and lost 27-19 as the Roughriders clinched the West Division title and will host the West Division final in Regina on Nov. 8.
Jarret Doege started in place of the injured Arbuckle. Doege was solid enough at 20-for-31 for 221 yards with a TD and a late pick that clinched the loss. Tucker Horn also saw action and was 4-for-5 for 35 yards. We likely see both here if healthy (Doege had to leave last twice last week due to injury) and maybe even Max Duggan, who attempted one pass in the defeat.
Defensively, Isaac Darkangelo started at middle linebacker in place of Wynton McManis, who is done for 2025 due to a groin injury. There were a handful of new starters due to injury.
Liram Hajrullahu was a bright spot with four made field goals. He has now converted 55 of 60 field goal attempts this season with 10 coming from 50 yards or more. Toronto is 5-2 ATS in its past seven away.
Calgary Stampeders
How much Calgary goes all-out here likely depends on what Edmonton does Friday night at B.C. as an Elks loss puts the Stamps in the playoffs, although there are still positioning reasons to keep winning. Calgary visits Edmonton in the regular-season finale.
Last Saturday, the Stamps were 2.5-point underdogs at Hamilton but snapped a four-game skid with a 37-20 victory. Calgary dominated on the ground with a season-high 211 yards along with three rushing scores. Dedrick Mills had 105 yards and two scores. He leads the league with 1,225 yards rushing.
Canadian rookie Ludovick Choquette added 73 yards, including a 44-yard TD for his first career score. Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 257 yards (most since Week 10) and rushed for 29.
Calgary’s defence forced four Hamilton takeaways — two interceptions of Bo Levi Mitchell and two on downs. Meanwhlie, the Stamps’ only turnover was on downs late. It appears the Stamps got out of that pretty healthy. They are 1-4 ATS in the past five.
