Argonauts vs. Roughriders Prediction: CFL Week 19 Point Spread, Odds
It’s been a turning of the tides in the West this year as for the first time in four seasons a team other than the Blue Bombers is poised to take the division.
Saskatchewan can officially clinch the West this week, which would be their first division title since 2019 and just the third since 1976. The league-leading (11-4) Riders, who are coming off a 20-13 win in Ottawa last week, will also move one step closer to clinching the CFL’s top overall seed.
It’s a different story for the defending Grey Cup champion Argonauts. Toronto sits third in the East Division with a 5-11 record and they just saw their playoff hopes officially dashed with last week’s 47-29 loss against Hamilton.
Saskatchewan is a heavy 10.5-point favourite to win on the CFL odds, with the total pegged at 50.5.
CFL Odds and Betting
This ends the season series after the Riders’ 39-32 Week 3 win in Toronto. While these teams have alternated victories over the last four head-to-heads, the Argos have historically struggled in the prairies, dropping five of their last seven games in Saskatchewan.
Unsurprisingly, the Roughriders have been comfortable wherever they play this season as they are 5-2 straight up at home and 6-2 SU on the road. That doesn’t bode well for a visiting Toronto squad that is 2-5 SU on the road this season.
The Green and White have been profitable to bettors overall at 9-6 against the spread, but keep in mind they’re just 3-4 ATS at home. On the flip side, the Argos are 7-9 ATS overall, including 4-3 ATS on the road.
Saskatchewan remains the Grey Cup favourite at +250 on the CFL futures board.
Toronto Argonauts
With Chad Kelly all but confirmed to miss the whole season and Nick Arbuckle shut down for the rest of the year with a wrist injury, Toronto is starting third-stringer Jarret Doege. The third-year pivot racked up 323 passing yards and two TDs in relief of Arbuckle last week, but he also threw four interceptions.
It’s the defence that’s the most concerning, however. The Argonauts are giving up the most points per game in the CFL this season, allowing at least 30 points in eight of 16 matchups. That includes a Hamilton squad that put up 47 points just last week.
Saskatchewan Roughriders
After back-to-back losses, the Riders got back in the win column last week, with Trevor Harris throwing for 341 yards and a touchdown. It will be a tough loss for Sasky this week, however, as receiver Dohnte Meyers has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Meyers just torched Ottawa for a career-high 158 receiving yards and a TD.
Even with the loss of Meyers, the Riders should continue to hum. KeeSean Johnson sits third in the CFL with 1,156 receiving yards, A.J. Ouellette is second in rushing yards (1,110) and Saskatchewan boasts the top defence in the league as they give up just 23 points per game.
