Argonauts vs. Alouettes Prediction: CFL Week 7 Point Spread, Odds

It’s the biggest spread of the week, with a total of 50.5 on the CFL odds in a rematch of the 2024 East Final.

CFL Odds and Betting

Thursday marks the second of three regular-season meetings between the East Division rivals with Montreal visiting Toronto in Week 16. They opened the season against one another in Montreal and the Alouettes prevailed 28-10 as 5.5-point favourites (total was 50) in a rematch of last year’s East Final.

The A’s defence was the clear story, not allowing a first down until the final minute of the first quarter and not a touchdown until the fourth. Toronto had just 276 total yards. Nick Arbuckle got the start for the Argos under centre with Chad Kelly still sidelined with the fractured leg and was 20 for 32 passing for 271 yards with two interceptions and a fumble.

Montreal’s Lorenzo Burns and Tyrice Beverette had the interceptions, and Isaac Adeyemi-Berglund returned a fumble for a score. On offence, Davis Alexander completed 19 of his 26 passes for 205 yards, a touchdown and an interception, adding 50 rushing yards on four attempts. Tyson Philpot had a TD catch, his fourth straight game against Toronto with a major.

That snapped the Als’ three-game losing streak in the series including playoffs. Toronto is 7-3-2 ATS in its past 11 in Montreal. The over is 4-2 in the past six meetings anywhere.

Toronto Argonauts

Week 6 had just three CFL games, and Toronto was one of the clubs to get a bye week. Probably needed the time off sitting last in the East Division and off a 51-38 home loss to Hamilton in Week 5. The Argos are second-to-last in the league in allowing 32.6 points per game. The original hope was the starting QB Chad Kelly would make his season debut out of the bye off his broken leg suffered in the 2024 East Final, but he is not expected to be ready yet. No. 2 Nick Arbuckle is third in the CFL in passing yards but leads the league with seven interceptions (to seven TD passes). By comparison, the Toronto defence has only picked off three passes. The team’s top two running backs, Deonta McMahon and Miyan Williams, are in question, as is right tackle Ryan Hunter. McMahon hasn’t played since Week 2. Toronto is 1-4 ATS in its past five games.

Montreal Alouettes

The Alouettes were also off in Week 6, so it makes sense they and Toronto kick off Week 7. Montreal won each of its first three games this year by double digits (3-0 ATS) but dropped the following two both as a short favourite. Quarterback Davis Alexander, who is 7-0 career as a starter with the team, hasn’t played since Week 3 due to a hamstring injury but is expected back. Alexander had Montreal leading the league in points per game (31.0) and net offensive yards (406.3) at the time of his injury. The Portland State product was named the CFL’s Offensive Player of the Month in June. McLeod Bethel-Thompson started in Alexander’s place in losses to Hamilton and BC. Receiver Austin Mack also missed the past two due to injury but should play. Mack has 12 receptions for 185 yards on the year. Montreal is 2-4 SU in its past six at home.
