In the midst of a strong season, quarterback Chad Kelly has signed a three-year extension with the Toronto Argonauts. How much does it improve the Argos' Grey Cup odds?
From the moment Chad Kelly took over from an injured McLeod Bethel-Thompson in last year’s Grey Cup, Chad Kelly looked comfortable in the role of QB leading the Toronto Argonauts. Toronto would pull off the upset over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 24-23. Since then, Kelly has taking over the job officially and performed so well through nine games that he’s just signed a three-year contract extension to remain with the team.

Argonauts Sign QB Chad Kelly for Three More Years
While the contract’s details have not been disclosed, what is known is that the Toronto Argonauts are more than a bit pleased with what they have under centre with the 29-year-old. The team is currently 8-1 heading into Labour Day weekend against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. They’ve scored the second-most points (307), Kelly is fourth in passing yards (2,402), third in TDs (16), and believe it or not, tied for first in rushing scores (six).
Barring an injury – which has plagued many CFL starting quarterbacks this season – the Argonauts are well equipped to defend their title with Chad Kelly leading the way.
Kelly’s camp released a statement.
“I couldn’t be happier to sign this extension and proudly represent the historic Double Blue. Today marks not only a contract extension, but an extension of my commitment to the amazing city of Toronto, my teammates, coaches, front office and MLSE.”
