Alouettes vs. Roughriders Prediction: CFL Week 11 Point Spread, Odds
It was a pretty unlikely outcome for the Riders last week as they settled for a 22-22 tie in Ottawa. The Als won their third straight game last week, dumping Hamilton 33-23 at home.
Montreal opened as a 2.5-point favourite to win on the CFL odds, with the total set at 51.5.
CFL Odds and Betting
This wraps up the season series after the Alouettes won 20-16 at home in Week 16. Montreal trailed 16-3 at the break, but stormed back to shut out Saskatchewan 17-0 in the second half after replacing quarterback Caleb Evans with Davis Alexander, who has remained the starter in the absence of Cody Fajardo.
The Alouettes have been a great cover option this season as they are a CFL-best 6-3 against the spread. And of course if you’re betting them on the moneyline, they lead the CFL with an 8-1 record straight up. Keep in mind the Under in 4-0 in Montreal’s last four road games and their last four games played on a Friday.
Saskatchewan leads the West Division with a 5-3 SU record and they are tied with Montreal at 6-3 ATS. They’ve been more of a higher scoring team, with the Over hitting in six of nine games.
Montreal Alouettes
Davis Alexander and wide receiver Charleston Rambo connected on multiple big plays last week, which could be important after a key injury in the game. Alexander finished with 247 passing yards, two TDs and 27 rushing yards. Rambo caught both touchdowns and racked up 124 yards on six catches. That chemistry will be crucial as Tyson Philpot, who is second in the CFL with 779 receiving yards, left last week’s game with a lower-body injury and will likely be out of the lineup against Saskatchewan.
Injuries are nothing new to the Alouettes this season. Starting quarterback Cody Fajardo has been out of the lineup since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 6 and Montreal currently has 12 other players on the long-term injured list. Despite all the injury issues, the Als’ defence has kept the team winning. Montreal ranks within the top three in the CFL in average total yards allowed (347.2), passing yards allowed (242.8) and points allowed (21.2) per game.
Saskatchewan Roughriders
It was a game of ups and downs for quarterback Shea Patterson last week. Patterson completed 30 of 49 pass attempts for 299 yards and two TDs, but he also threw three interceptions to give him a 6-5 TD-INT ratio on the season. Dohnte Meyers and Shawn Bane led all receivers in the game with 101 yards and 90 yards respectively.
Like Montreal, Saskatchewan has had their own significant injury issues this season, particularly with starting QB Trevor Harris, who hasn’t played since sustaining ACL and MCL injuries in Week 4. In three games this season, Harris is averaging a CFL-high 290.7 passing yards per game while throwing for seven TDs and three interceptions. Harris was taking starting reps at practice this week, but there’s still been no word on who will start between Harris and Patterson.
