Montreal Alouettes at Toronto Argonauts

Montreals enter this Week 16 clash as heavy road favourites over the Argonauts.

This could come down to the quarterback matchup. McLeod Bethel-Thompson will make his second straight start for the Alouettes after missing time with an elbow injury. Bethel-Thompson is coming off a big win over Saskatchewan that saw him throw for 378 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Jarret Doege will get his second-ever CFL start for the Argos with Nick Arbuckle and Chad Kelly both out with injuries. Doege completed three of six passes for 35 yards in relief of Arbuckle last week, but his only other game action this season is a one-yard rushing touchdown.

Pick: Montreal -6.5

BC Lions at Calgary Stampeders

Calgary enters this West Division clash as a sizeable favourite, with Vernon Adams Jr. looking for revenge against the team that dumped him for Nathan Rourke.

These teams are tending in opposite directions when it comes to health. The Stamps are getting back defensive tackle Jaylon Hutchings and cornerback Adrian Greene as well as left tackle D’Antne Demery.

On the flip side, the Lions will be missing left tackle Jarell Broxton, running back James Butler, and receiver Jevon Cottoy. However, veteran defensive back T.J. Lee will make his first appearance of the season after re-signing with the team on Sept. 10.

Pick: Calgary -4.5

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Ottawa RedBlacks

You wouldn’t have thought it at the start of the year, but Ottawa is a narrow home favourite against Winnipeg last week.

The RedBlacks are getting Dru Brown back under centre after missing three games with a knee injury. Brown has been electric when healthy this season, throwing for 1,842 yards with 12 TDs and five interceptions over seven appearances.

Zach Collaros is out for the Bombers, so Chris Streveler will start a second straight game. Streveler struggled last time out in a loss to Hamilton, completing just 18 of 29 passes for 241 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Pick: Ottawa -2.5

Edmonton Elks at Hamilton Tiger-Cats

It’s the top team in the CFL versus the bottom feeder of the West Division when the Ti-Cats and Elks meet in Hamilton on Saturday.

Both teams are a little banged up heading into this one. Edmonton’s defence will be missing both Nick Anderson and Royce Metchie, while the Tiger-Cats will have to do without linebacker Kyler Fisher.

Fortunately, Hamilton will have rookie linebacker Devin Veresuk after an injury scare last week and star returner Isaiah Wooden should also be good to go.

Pick: Edmonton +5.5
