Muhammad Ali In Pacquaio's Corner

Boxing’s biggest legend has weighed in on his favorite to win the upcoming boxing super-fight between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd. Muhammad Ali has revealed that he will be in Pacquiao’s corner come fight time. Current betting odds are, as of today, favoring Mayweather to win the fight.

Ali’s daughter, Rasheda, spoke with TMZ Sports about his choice to back Pacquiao. “My dad is Team Pacquiao all the way!” Rasheda divulged that her father and Manny have been friends for years and that Pacqauio attended Muhammad’s 70th birthday party in 2012.

“He knows Manny’s a great fighter, but it’s more about what he does outside the ring. He’s such a charitable person.”

One might think Ali would be pulling for Mayweather as the two American born fighters share a similar style. Ali, considered the greatest fighter of all time, was quite the showman in his heyday. Much like Ali, the unbeaten Mayweather certainly has proven he can talk the talk and walk the walk.

Despite the similarities in bravado and skill, Rasheda insists that the comparison ends there. “My dad stood for things. Mayweather…I don’t think there’s a comparison.”

Bet on the Manny Pacquaio vs. Floyd Mayweather Fight

Mayweather has earned the nickname “Money” for his penchant to post to social media flaunting his absurd amounts of cash, while Pacquaio takes on a much humbler approach and has even made a political career for himself in the Philippines hoping to seek help for those less fortunate.

Rasheda mentioned that while her father will not be in attendance at the match at the MGM Grand, he will be ordering the fight to enjoy with family and friends at home. “There’s no question he’s going to order it,” she said. “It takes my dad way back to when he was fighting.”

The fight is expected to break all previous records for revenue and viewing numbers. With a little over a month remaining before the fight, both fighters are immersed in training routines to prepare for what is likely to be one of the biggest nights in the history of boxing.
