Floyd Mayweather vs. Andre Berto Odds: Bettors Back Big Underdog
Love a big underdog? Well, you’re in luck when Floyd Mayweather Jr. puts his undefeated record on the line against Andre Berto.
So, it’s a far cry from Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, but wherever Floyd Mayweather Jr. steps into the ring, it’s always a big money event and that’s the case again when he meets Andre Berto Saturday night at MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Mayweather is set as a huge -10000 favorite to win the fight and push his record to 49-0, making Berto one of the biggest underdogs (+1250) ever to share the squared circle with Money Mayweather.

However, that hasn’t stopped bettors from laying some major cash down on the underdog. As of Friday afternoon a Sports Interaction oddsmaker said “Berto’s betting handle is double that of Mayweather’s. “
This might be a case of bettors hoping to cash in on a lottery ticket.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Andre Berto Odds and Betting
Berto isn’t even ranked in the top 10 and is just 3-3 in his last six fights overall. Really, one of the biggest selling points to this fight is that Mayweather keeps insisting this will be the last time he steps into the ring. Of course, he’s already come back from retirement once in his career and a rematch with Pacquiao appears to be more of a reality every day. It’s all about the money for Mayweather and he’ll make another $32 million for this fight compared to Berto’s $4-million payday.
Meanwhile, new allegations have surfaced accusing Mayweather of using an illegal IV to rehydrate before his fight with Pacquiao and Rocky Marciano’s 49-0 record remains a carrot to Mayweather’s legacy before he hangs them up. Plus, the record fight purses Mayweather earns are pretty tough to pass up for a night’s work.
Before all that, though, and despite the long odds, we still have to see what happens Saturday with Mayweather vs. Berto on Saturday.
“You have fighters that may be faster than me, there are fighters that may hit harder than me, you have fighters who are very athletic, but you don’t have a fighter who can make adjustments like me,” Mayweather said at the final pre-fight press conference.
Still, while Berto may be on the downside of his career with all three of his career losses coming in his last six fights, he does have a scrappy, entertaining style with some power. Above all else, the underdog promises to put on a show.
“He has a great IQ,” Berto told reporters of the champ. “You can be smart, fast, this and that, but one shot can change it all. This camp has definitely taken me to levels I haven’t been. I’m in great shape, mentally focused, I have this tunnel vision.”
