Anthony Joshua vs Robert Helenius Heavyweight Prediction, Odds
The English Anthony Joshua is a former unified champion, having held the World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation, and World Boxing Organization titles. He was originally scheduled to square off with Dillian Whyte, but the latter failed a drug test.
As such, Finnish Robert Helenius steps into the ring on short notice. So short, in fact, that he tussled with Mika Mielonen just last weekend, a bout he won via TKO.
The boxing odds have placed local hero Joshua as a -1634 favourite to Helenius’ +900. A draw is pegged at +2200.
Anthony Joshua Betting Analysis Odds
Things were going swimmingly for Anthony Joshua right up until he came face-to-face with the Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and 2022. The first was for all the marbles, as at the time the Brit was the unified heavyweight champion. But Usyk pulled off an upset – with relative ease – thus stripping Joshua of his glorious credentials.
There was a rematch in Saudi Arabia in August of last year, but Usyk once again got the better of his English rival, even though the fight was closer (split decision versus unanimous the first time). The 33-year-old Watford native still sports a remarkable 25-3 record, bolstered by an impressive 22 KOs. He has fared since falling to Usyk, having earned a victory in April against Jermaine Franklin thanks to a unanimous decision.
Robert Helenius Betting Analysis Odds
Kudos to Robert Helenius for making the bold move to replace Dillian Whyte on such short notice. To do so having only just engaged in a competitive match is all the more impressive. Perhaps because he is 39 years old, he knows that there is only so much time left for him to step into the ring at this level and wants every chance that comes his way.
He’s never worn title belts the likes of which this weekend’s opponent has, but regional European success was earned in both 2011 and 2016. He also earned the WBO Gold heavyweight title in 2020.
He brings an incredible 32-4 win-loss tally with him into the ring this Saturday. Of those 32 victories, 21 were via KOs. Prior to the August 5 fight with Mielonen he tussled with Deontay Wilder in October 2022 but lost by knockout in the first round, so hasn’t all been roses for Helenius lately either. Still, he has claimed four of his last five matches. All were via TKO. His last real knockout win was in September 2018 against Erkan Teper.
