UFC 319 Odds, Prediction: Jared Cannonier vs. Michael Page

The main card of Saturday night’s UFC 319 from Chicago has two middleweight fights on it: The main event but also a matchup of ranked contenders earlier featuring Jared Cannonier against Michael Page, with Page at -190 and Cannonier +155 on the MMA odds in a scheduled three-round bout.

Jared Cannonier UFC 319 Odds

The UFC’s middleweight title is up for grabs in Saturday’s main event between champion Dricus Du Plessis and No. 3 Khazmat Chimaev. The 41-year-old Cannonier, who fights out of Phoenix and spent some time in the U.S. Army, is ranked No. 9 in the division with a career MMA mark of 18-8. He’s a former Alaska Fighting Championship heavyweight champion and has gotten one title shot in the UFC at middleweight. In July 2022 at UFC 276, he lost to champ Israel Adesanya via unanimous decision.

“The Killa Gorilla” is 3-2 since that loss, including wins over current No. 2 middleweight Sean Strickland and No. 13 Marvin Vettori. Cannonier was last in the Octagon in February and beat unranked Gregory Rodrigues by fourth-round TKO in the headline bout of a Fight Night card. That earned Cannonier his fourth Fight of the Night award in the UFC. He is one of 18 fighters in UFC history to win fights in three weight classes.

Cannonier generally does not want his fights to reach the canvas as he doesn’t look to wrestle much. He has five losses by decision and three by KO/TKO compared to 11 wins by KO/TKO, five from the judges and only two via submission. Cannonier’s five knockout victories in UFC middleweight competition are tied for second-most among active fighters in the weight class behind Gregory Rodrigues’s six. His favoured method of victory Saturday, though, is by decision at +275 with KO/TKO at +650 and submission +2500. A draw is +5000.

The 5-foot-11 Cannonier has a reach of 77 inches and his bouts average 13:51. He lands 4.60 significant strikes per minute with 50 per cent accuracy and absorbs 4.40 with 56 per cent defence. His takedown average is 0.46 per 15 minutes with 44 per cent accuracy, and his takedown defence is 64 per cent.

Michael Page UFC 319 Odds

The 38-year-old Page, from England, is ranked No. 15 in the welterweight division (not ranked as a middleweight) with a career mark of 23-3 – two of those three defeats coming in Bellator. He has a bit of an unusual style which originated from freestyle kickboxing and sport karate. Page has fought not just in MMA but as a kickboxer, boxer and bare-knuckle boxer.

“Venom” is 2-1 since joining the UFC, winning his debut over Kevin Holland last year via unanimous decision, following with a loss in June 2024 to Ian Garry by UD. Those were both at welterweight, and he has spoken about perhaps returning there with eyes on former champions Kamaru Usman or Leon Edwards.

Page was last in the Octagon in February and took out Sharabutdin Magomedov in an upset via UD at middleweight from Saudi Arabia. That was Magomedov’s first career loss after starting 15-0. Two judges scored it 30-27 with the other seeing it at 29-28 in Page’s favour. It was his first time fighting at middleweight since 2012.

“You have to be aggressive with Page, but it’s a weird situation to be in because he’s a counter-striker and he sort of sits back and waits for you,” UFC boss Dana White said afterward. “You’re dammed if you do, damned if you don’t. MVP is a very tough style to fight.”

The 6-foot-3 Page, who will have a four-inch height edge on Saturday, has a reach of 79 inches and his bouts average only 9:53. He lands 2.53 significant strikes per minute with 62 per cent accuracy and absorbs 1.78 with 55 per cent defence. His takedown average is 0.30 per 15 minutes with 20 per cent accuracy, and his takedown defence is 63 per cent.

Page has 12 wins by KO/TKO and four by decision, and his favoured method of victory Saturday is via decision at +100, followed by KO/TKO/DQ at +350 and submission at +2800. That the fight goes the full three rounds is -205 with no +175.
