UEFA Euro 2024 Betting Predictions, Odds: Who Will Win?

This summer’s event has no shortage of dramatic sublots that should keep fans glued to their TVs or streaming devices.

As FIFA’s number two ranked team, can France do what many expect and win it all? Is Euro 2024 the competition where Germany finds its rhythm again after multiple soft performances? Will England win something for the first time since 1966? Will the Netherlands make good on the talent they bring to every tournament yet fall short? What to make of Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal? Who is the dark horse?

Of course, don’t forget to check out our entire Euro 2024 odds. For the tournament as a whole, England leads the favourites at +350. France is a close second at +400, with Germany third at +550.

Euro 2024 Group Overview, Predictions

As was the case for the past few editions, Euro 2024 comes back with 24 sides split into six different four-team divisions, or groups. Let’s look at them individually and discuss.

Group A: Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Scotland

Many can criticize Germany’s past results at World Cups and Euros, but they always bring a formidable side. FIFA ranks them 16th, which seems shockingly low, but it’s been rough lately. This will be Toni Kroos’ swan song for Die Nationalmannschaft. It’s a good team, but maybe not an amazing one. The defence is solid with Antonio Rüdiger and Joshua Kimmich, and the midfield has some pep with Jamal Musiala.

Can Scotland, Hungary, or Switzerland overcome Germany? The top man for the Tartan Army is Scott McTominay, the subject of endless debate at Manchester United, so it might not do to hold one’s breath.

Switzerland is a decent bet to finish second. Keeper Yan Sommer (Inter Milan) has plenty of experience, and Granit Xhaka (Bayer Leverkusen) is coming off a season where his club literally lost once in all competitions.

Prediction: Germany and Switzerland make it out.

Group B: Spain, Croatia, Italy, Albania

Were it not for Albania (with all due respect), this is essentially a group of death. La Roja, led by coach Luis de la Fuente, is equipped to produce maximum damage. Rodri (Manchester City), Pedri (Barcelona), Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Ferran Torres (Barcelona), etc. They will no doubt give the opposition headaches.

It would be foolish to overlook Italy and Croatia. Gli Azzurri have Nicolo Barella (Inter Milan), new sensation Riccardo Calafiori (Bologna) and Stephan El Shaaraway (Roma). Their recent history is a mixed bag. They won Euro 2020, yet missed the two most recent World Cups.

Croatia is ranked 10th in the world and have been very consistent over the past five or six years. The ageless wonder Luka Modric will lead them.

Sadly, Albania will be lambs to the slaughter.

Prediction: Spain and Italy make it out.

Group C: Slovenia, Denmark, Serbia, England

Anyone who doubts that this is England’s group to lose is kidding themselves. Yes, coach Gareth Southgate can’t let go of his conservative strategies, but the talent is there to dominate this quartet. Harry Kane (Bayern Munich), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Phil Foden (Manchester City), Kyle Walker (Manchester City), the list of top talent goes on.

So, who slides into second place? It seems safe to assume that the Denmark vs. Serbia match on June 25 will go a long way to settle that debate. The Danes have firepower with Rasmus Hojlund (Manchester United), whereas the Serbs will be led by Aleksandar Mitrovic, now playing in Saudi Arabia.

Bold Prediction: England and Serbia make it out.

Group D: Poland, Netherland, Austria, France

So close to being a group of death, except that Poland will be down Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) for at least one match if not more. Austria, bless them, have Marcel Sabitzer (Borussia Dortmund) but it seems unlikely that will be enough to survive the group.

The question becomes: who wins? France or the Netherlands? Funnily enough, it’s genuinely tempting to opt for the Oranje. They tend to dominate groups before early exits in the knockout rounds. They bring a strong roster to the festivities, with Virgil can Dijk (Liverpool), Memphis Depay (Atletico Madrid), and Cody Gakpo (Liverpool).

On the flip side, looking at the French roster is akin to admiring the English one. Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), William Saliba (Arsenal), Ferland Mendy (Real Madrid), Marcus Thuram (Inter Milan), Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid) etc. Good lord.

Prediction: Netherlands finish first, France second, because that’s just what the Oranje do in the group stages.

Group E: Belgium, Slovakia, Romania, Ukraine

For a country dealing with some dire business these days, Ukraine is bringing a solid roster to Euro 2024. The most notable name is probably Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal), but he didn’t actually play much in 2023-24. Girona star Georgiy Sudakov could have a breakout summer, though.

The Belgians are expected to win this group. Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City), Jeremy Doku (Manchester City), Youri Tielemans (Aston Villa), Leandro Trossard (Arsenal), it seems like the entire Premier League has made the quad.

For Romania, the task will be to get the most out of decent players who play for clubs in leagues that aren’t any people’s radars. Think Nicolae Stanciu, who is trying to make a name for himself in the Saudi Pro League.

Slovakia has Paris Saint-Germain defender Milan Skriniar and, yes, they probably will be defending quite a bit.

Prediction: Belgium and Ukraine make it out.

Group F: Turkey, Georgia, Portugal, Czechia

It’s unfortunate, but there is always one, isn’t there? That group that almost no one will be talking about? Yes, Portugal has Vitinha (PSG), Ruben Dias (Man City), Pedro Neto (Wolves), Joao Felix (Barcelona), and the like. But honestly, most people just want to watch Ronaldo, which is both understandable and a little sad for the rest of the roster.

Also, why would Portugal not win this group? To be fair, Turkey has Hakan Çalhanoglu, who just won Serie A with Inter Milan, and Czechia features Patrik Schick, who just experienced an unbelievable year with Bayer Leverkusen. Collecting more points than the Portuguese after three matches is asking for a lot, though.

We wish Georgia good luck and bravery.

Prediction: Portugal and Czechia make it out.

Euro 2024 Prediction: Which Team Will Win the Tournament?

Germany will most likely falter at some point unless Julien Nagelsmann figures everything out immediately. The Netherlands really needs to show they can go deep before any bold predictions. France seems like the best bet, but they were the best bet in Qatar and lost.

Spain is a team that has a lot to prove after a poor showing in Qatar 2022 and has the roster to do it. They’re priced at +700, which seems both fair and tantalizing.
