Edmonton Oilers vs. Los Angeles Kings Game 6 Prediction, NHL Odds
The Los Angeles Kings can eliminate the once heavily favoured Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 of their Western Conference playoff series Thursday, but the Oilers are -155 road favourites on the NHL odds.
Oilers vs. Kings NHL Playoffs Betting Odds
If Edmonton loses this series, it can look at three primary reasons: Slow starts, the inability to win close home games and arguably, Leon Draisaitl. Yes, he has seven points but is tied with a team-worst plus/minus of minus-3. By comparison, Connor McDavid is plus-5.
The Oilers had been favoured on the series line the entire way but down 3-2, they are now +140 with the Kings at -172. On the series exact score result, Los Angeles in six is +130, Edmonton in seven is +150 and Los Angeles in seven is +291. I still like Edmonton in seven.
Los Angeles is 9-1 all-time in a best-of-seven series in which it leads 3-2 and 7-0 when starting on the road. Edmonton is 2-6 when trailing a best-of-seven 3-2 and 1-1 when starting at home.

The road team is 7-3 in the past 10 meetings.
Edmonton Oilers
Edmonton fought back to force a tie game in Game 1 and seemed to have the momentum entering the third period but lost. On Tuesday in Game 5, the Oilers trailed 3-1 entering the third but tied it at 15:08 of the third and had all the momentum … only to lose early in overtime. While we criticised Leon Draisaitl above, he did have a short-handed goal at 12:33 of the third to cut the LA lead to 4-3 and tied it at 15:08 with a power-play goal. He also had an assist earlier but was still minus-2 on the night. It was Draisaitl’s 10th career multi-point playoff game, good for ninth on the Oilers’ all-time list. It was his fourth career multi-goal playoff game, eighth in franchise history.
Connor McDavid also had a power-play goal (and two assists), his fifth career in the postseason with the man advantage. That’s No. 9 in team history. Derek Ryan returned to the lineup after missing Game 4 injured but didn’t have a point or shot on goal in 11:41. Mike Smith allowed five goals on 43 shots. Would the Oilers actually consider Mikko Koskinen in Game 6? Edmonton is 8-3 in its past 11 as a road favourite.
Los Angeles Kings
The Kings are not as talented as the Oilers but that doesn’t always matter in the playoffs. LA absolutely dominated the first period of Game 5 to take a 1-0 lead and would outshoot the Oilers 43-28 overall. LA also blocked 30 shots. Adrian Kempe was the No. 1 star of the game with two goals, including the winner at 1:12 of OT, and an assist. He became the sixth player in Kings history to score both his first career playoff goal and an overtime winner in the same game. He led the team with 35 regular-season goals. Jonathan Quick made 24 saves to earn his 49th career playoff win and tie Glenn Hall for 23rd place on the NHL’s all-time list. When tied 2-2 in a best-of-seven series, the Kings have gone on to win six or their previous seven series when winning Game 5. They are 30-28 in playoff overtime overall. LA is 7-20 in its past 27 as a home dog.
