The opening weekend of the 2026 CFL regular-season schedule features a standalone game Friday night as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers visit Calgary in a West Division matchup, with the Stampeders as 1.5-point underdogs and a total of 47.5 points on the CFL odds.

CFL Odds and Betting

Both Winnipeg and Calgary were playoff teams last season. The Blue Bombers finished fourth in the West Division and lost in the Eastern Semifinal at Montreal, 42-33. Calgary finished third in the West and lost, 33-30, in the Western Semifinal at BC. To win the West Division this season, the Bombers are +380 on the CFL futures board and Stamps +420.

These clubs met three times last season and the Stamps won them all. The last was in August in Calgary and was a 28-27 final score. The Stampeders rallied from down 17 and got the game-winning 40-yard field goal from Rene Paredes as time expired. After dominating the first half, Winnipeg in the second half had six possessions with the first five ending in punts and the sixth on a Serge Castillo 63-yard field goal (tying the CFL record) with 1:10 remaining for a 26-25 lead. The Blue Bombers managed just 62 yards of net offence in the second half.

Winnipeg’s last win in Calgary was in October 2023. That was the Blue Bombers’ sixth straight win in the series overall, but since then they are 1-5. The Stamps are 4-1 ATS in the past five home meetings, and the total landed over in four of those.

On the series line for this year, Winnipeg is -250 and Calgary +190. They play again Weeks 8 and 19 at Princess Auto Stadium.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers

Off a 10-win regular season in 2025, the Blue Bombers have a win total of 10.5 this year with the under a -150 favourite. They failed to reach the Grey Cup last year for the first time since 2018, and it was played in their own Princess Auto Stadium. Winnipeg lost both 2026 preseason games, 31-27 at Saskatchewan and 30-19 home to BC.

The Blue Bombers have a new offensive coordinator in Tommy Condell, but QB Zach Collaros and running back Brady Oliveira both return.

Collaros is at 19,225 yards passing as a Blue Bomber, trailing only Khari Jones (20,175) and Dieter Brock (29,623) in franchise history. Collaros needs 14 TD passes this season to move past Jones (139) for second on that all-time list. Brock leads with 187.

Despite missing three games last year injured, Oliveira led the CFL in scrimmage yards (1,709) and yards per carry (5.8), while ranking second in receptions amongst running backs (61).

One major addition to the offence was lineman Jarell Broxton after spending the last five years with the B.C. Lions. He was named an All-CFL in 2025 after posting a league-best Pro Football Focus grade of 81.2 in pass protection. Winnipeg is 1-4 SU in its past five road games.

Calgary Stampeders

Off an 11-win regular-season in 2025, the Stampeders have a win total of 8.5 this year with the under as a -128 favourite. The Stamps were 2-0 in this preseason, winning 20-15 at home vs. Saskatchewan and 21-18 at Edmonton. Note that Calgary hosts the 2026 Grey Cup and the Stamps are +850 to win that.

Quarterback Vernon Adams returns for a second season in Calgary and is +1500 to win the league Most Outstanding Player Award. Also back is Dedrick Mills, the CFL’s top rusher last season.Adams did lose two of his top wideouts in Dominique Rhymes (retired) and Damien Alford (NFL).

Defensive lineman Jaylon Hutchings was hoping to land with an NFL team this offseason and did sign with the Vikings but was waived in April and has returned. He recently got an extension through 2028. Last season, Hutchings started 17 games and had 39 tackles including three for losses, eight sacks, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and two knockdowns upon being named All-CFL.

Fellow defensive lineman Folarin Orimolade suffered a torn Achilles last September but likely will play Friday. Calgary is 4-1 in its past five at home.
