The Liberty won the first two head-to-head contests in D.C., as Sabrina Ionescu had 28 points while Jonquel Jones added 14 points and 18 rebounds in an 85-63 rout at the end of May. Breanna Stewart had 26 points and 11 rebounds, and Ionescu chipped in with 13 points and seven assists in a closer, 86-78 triumph a week later in June.

Washington rookie Kiki Iriafen is averaging 14.5 points and eight rebounds in the two games against the Liberty.

The Liberty are heavy 13.5-point favourites to win on the WNBA odds, with the total pegged at 163.5.

Washington Mystics vs. New York Liberty WNBA Odds and Betting Trends

New York has won six straight and taken eight of the last 10 meetings with the Mystics. However, Washington has gone 7-3 against the spread in those same contests. New York is getting the wins, while the Mystics are covering the lines.

Washington, having lost four straight and seven of 10, has fallen to 16-22. The Over has cashed in nine of 11 against the Liberty.

New York is just 12-22-2 against the spread this season, including 2-12-1 ATS in its last 15 games and 1-5 ATS in its last six home contests. New York has played to the Under in nine of 12 overall and in five of seven at home.

Washington Mystics

Washington is on the verge of missing the postseason for the second straight season and posting its fifth losing record in six years. The team has not won a playoff series since claiming the 2019 WNBA title, the lone championship in franchise history.

The Mystics are committed to rookie All-Stars Iriafen (12.9 PPG and 8.7 REB) and Sonia Citron (team-leading 15.2 PPG). Iriafen is among the league leaders with 14 double-doubles and recently set the franchise single-season record for rebounds.

Brittney Sykes, the team’s former leading scorer, was recently traded to the Seattle Storm. The Mystics are 3-7 since that deal.

New York Liberty

The defending WNBA champions started the season 9-0, but have gone just 14-15 since. It didn’t help that two-time MVP and seven-time All-Star Stewart missed 13 games with a bone bruise in her right knee. The Liberty, who have lost nine of 15, went 5-8 in her absence.

Stewart returned Monday with a team-high 19 points in the Liberty’s 81-79 victory over the Connecticut Sun. New York is now 23-15 and in fifth place, but just 1.5 games back of second.

WNBA Prediction: Who Will Win Mystics vs. Liberty?

New York is on the verge of its fifth straight postseason appearance, but a third straight trip to the WNBA Finals is anything but assured. The Liberty need to get some momentum going in the last two weeks of the regular season.

That includes re-establishing the Barclays Center as a fortress. New York is 15-5 at home this season, but just 3-3 in its last six games there. Getting Stewart back helps, as the Liberty are 18-7 with her in the lineup.

With Iriafen and Citron, Washington has a strong future ahead, but right now, they are in trouble in Brooklyn tomorrow night. Look for New York to defeat the Mystics, 88-73.
