Canada’s Victoria Mboko secures top-10 ranking after advancing to Qatar Open final
Canadian Victoria Mboko is advancing to the final of the Qatar Open and is now assured a spot in the top-10 when the WTA rankings are updated on Monday.

Victoria Mboko
Mboko advances to the Qatar final after defeating Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko 6-3, 6-2 in the semifinals. Seeded 10th in the tournament, the Toronto native finished with six aces and four double faults. Ostapenko, ranked 24th in the world, recorded no aces and double-faulted once.
The 19-year-old Mboko will face either Greece’s Maria Sakkari or Czech Karolina Muchova, the 14th seed, in the final.
Mboko becomes just the fourth Canadian woman to break the top-10 in the WTA singles rankings, joining Carling Bassett-Seguso, Eugenie Bouchard and Bianca Andreescu.
