EPL Soccer Picks, Predictions: Liverpool looking to widen lead atop the table

Only one team remains with a perfect record in the EPL as we enter Matchweek 6: the mighty Reds of Liverpool. Both second and third place Arsenal and Tottenham dropped points last weekend, giving the Reds a five-point lead on the ladder. Many teams have their Carabao Cup games mixed into this week as well, so it will be interesting to see if any lineups differ for this weekend.

Take a good look at my EPL predictions and best bets for the weekend, including picks for my top three anticipated matchups below.

EPL Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool best bet: Liverpool three-way money line (-110)

Fifth-place Crystal Palace challenge Liverpool this weekend for points on the ladder, but it will not be easy. However, this year, Palace has proved to be formidable so far. For quite some time, Liverpool held a 15-game unbeaten streak against Palace, stemming back to July 2017, but that game came to an end with a 1-0 Palace victory in April 2024. Since then, Liverpool has gone undefeated against them, with their most recent meeting in August 2025 (Community Shield) ending 2-2 before Palace took the win, 3-2 in penalty kicks.

Crystal Palace are on a nine-game unbeaten streak (with four draws) since August 10, when they defeated Liverpool in penalty kicks during the FA Community Shield final. Their most recent game ended in a 2-1 victory over West Ham.

All things considered, Liverpool has found a seemingly new working identity under Arne Slot, and the team’s new additions have proved effective. Alexander Isak carries +150 odds to score and will likely start after Hugo Ekitike picked up a red card in the Carabao Cup. Mohamed Salah’s scoring odds are +165, and the team’s ability to finish out games to the final whistle has been impeccable. I hardly expect Liverpool to slip up again in their current form, even at away territory, which is why I’m going with Liverpool to win at -110 in a potential 3-1 scoreline.

EPL Newcastle vs. Arsenal best bet: Arsenal three-way money line (+110)

Newcastle and Arsenal face off once again for this matchweek, and despite Newcastle winning three of their last five meetings, they no longer have the looming threat of Alexander Isak up top. Arsenal may have lost three straight against the Magpies, failing to score a single goal, but the Gunners turned things around with their most recent Premier League matchup against Newcastle ending in a 1-0 victory in May 2025.

Newcastle takes home-field advantage against the Gunners this weekend, with Under 2.5 goals (-130) expected in this one, as the Magpies have only won one game so far this season against last-place Wolves. While they have yet to score more than two goals in a game, new signing Nick Woltemade is priced at +245 to score.

Arsenal dropped points last weekend with a 1-1 draw against Manchester City at home, although the team has still performed well to this point in the season. Victor Gyokeres is the most likely to score at +185 odds, as he sits atop the charts with three goals in five games this season. I expect a solid 3-0 away win for Arsenal at a juicy +110 three-way money line price here.

EPL best player prop bet: Erling Haaland first goalscorer (+245) in Manchester City vs. Burnley

The Norwegian striker is on a roll so far this season, with six goals in five games, even as City drops points in several games. He’s priced at -170 to score anytime, and while that’s more than likely, he scored the first goal of the game against Napoli in the Champions League, and also against Arsenal in City’s 1-1 draw. I expect his hot streak to continue, which is why I’m choosing Haaland to score first against Burnley this weekend.
