Brighton vs. Manchester City Prediction and EPL Odds for Matchweek 3

The Seagulls aim to climb out of an early relegation scare, while the Citizens want to bounce back from their 2-0 home defeat last week to Tottenham.

Catch Brighton vs Man City at 9 AM ET this Saturday, and check out my picks for this EPL matchup below.

Brighton vs. Manchester City EPL Odds and Betting Trends

While you may think Manchester City has a clear edge in this one, their last five meetings in the EPL say otherwise. The two sides have only met in recent years through Premier League fixtures, and out of their previous five contests, Man City have won two, drawn two, and lost one.

Their most recent matchup last March ended in a 2-2 draw as part of the conclusion to the 2024-25 EPL season. In last season’s earlier meeting, Brighton nabbed the 2-1 victory. Over those five games alone, there have been 16 goals, with the largest margin win going to Man City with their 4-0 over Brighton in the 2023-24 EPL season. Brighton are the +285 home underdogs in this match, while Man City are the -115 favourites, and the draw sits at +290. The game total (over/under) sits at 3, with the Over and Under carrying -110 odds.

Manchester City

Manchester City opened the season with a triumphant win, but they were quickly brought back down to Earth with last week’s defeat. They’ll feel deflated, but they are by no means out of the title race yet. Although they slipped up 2-0 to Tottenham, Spurs have had an impressive start to the season, and I expect Pep Guardiola’s men to bounce back this week.

Erling Haaland is always dangerous in the box, and already has two goals to his name, along with both Tijjani Reijnders (one goal and one assist) and Ryan Cherki (one goal) each with a goal apiece. When they hit their stride, they can be unstoppable, and with Erling Haaland shut out in their last game, he’s likely to score in this one.

Brighton

Brighton finished their 2024-25 season in a formidable eighth place, but have yet to get the ball rolling this season, with just one point. They secured that point in their opening 1-1 draw against Fulham, but their most recent 2-0 loss to Everton sets them at 18th place on the ladder. They looked revitalized mid-week in the second round of the Carabao Cup, as they picked up a 6-0 victory over Oxford United.

Only midfielder Matt O’Riley has anything to show for on the team, with just one goal so far in the competition. If Brighton wants to survive this weekend’s contest and avoid relegation this season, they’ll need Danny Wellbeck and Kaoru Mitoma to match their efforts of 10 goals apiece from last season.

EPL Prediction: Who Will Win Brighton vs. Manchester City?

While the two sides’ history, it may look like this game could go either way, but Man City is still the better team on paper. Erling Haaland rarely goes on a scoreless streak, so you can bet on him scoring at least once, and you rarely see Pep’s side losing two games in a row. Manchester City has stronger personnel and greater depth, so I’m going with a 2-0 win in favor of City, with Erling Haaland leading the way.
