France

France beat Croatia 4-2 in the 2018 World Cup final and has become the fifth defending champion to reach the next final and first since Brazil in 1998. Les Bleus seek to become the first repeat champion since Brazil (1958-62). They advanced with a 2-0 semifinal win over Morocco on Wednesday on goals from Theo Hernandez and Randal Kolo Muani. Hernandez, who started this tournament on the bench, scored in the fifth minute – the fastest in any World Cup semifinal since 1958.

Superstar Kylian Mbappe leads the French with five goals in the tournament, tied with Argentina’s Lionel Messi for the most. Mbappe, who won the Best Young Player Award at the 2018 World Cup, is +224 to win the Golden Ball (player of the tournament) this year and +123 for the Golden Boot (most goals). He is +160 for an anytime goal Sunday.

One thing to note is that the French team was dealing with a virus ahead of its semifinal match with both Dayot Upamecano and Adrien Rabiot unavailable due to illness. Manager Didier Deschamps believes both will be ready for this match. Many visitors to Qatar have struggled with Middle East respiratory syndrome.
