2026 World Cup Odds: Canada’s Group B opponents finalized

The wait is over as Canada’s group has been set for the 2026 World Cup.

The Canadians are in Group B and will face Switzerland, Qatar and the winner of UEFA playoff Path A.

Canada is currently No. 27 in the FIFA World Rankings, while Switzerland is 17th and Qatar is 51st.

Italy is easily the scariest of those four potential opponents as they are ranked 12th in the world. The other three teams, Wales (No. 32), Northern Ireland (No. 69) and Bosnia and Herzegovina (71), are all ranked below Canada.

Group B schedule

Canada opens the tournament against their Pot 4 opponent on June 12 at BMO Field in Toronto. They will then move to Vancouver where they will face Qatar on June 18 and Switzerland on June 24, with both games played at BC Place.

If Canada wins Group B, they will stay in Vancouver for the Round of 32 and the Round of 16, should they advance.

A second-place finish in the group means Canada would play in Los Angeles, while a third-place finish sends them to either Boston or San Francisco.

Canada has never won a game at the World Cup, but the expanded 48-team tournament gives them a great shot to advance to the knockout round. The group winners, runners-up and eight best third-place teams advance to the Round of 32.
