2026 FIFA World Cup Group E preview, betting odds, prediction
The 2026 FIFA World Cup in the U.S.A., Canada, and Mexico finally kicks off in June with a massive 48 teams competing.
Group E takes the stage with the 2014 victors, Germany, as frontrunners, which was also the last time the Ivory Coast played in the tournament. Ecuador certainly remembers its recent Group A run in the 2022 World Cup, while Curacao makes history not only in its first time qualifying for the tournament, but as the smallest nation to ever do so.

Group E odds
As expected, Germany is a heavy favourite to take the top spot in Group E at -310 odds. Ecuador follows the European side as the second-highest group winners at +350 and a definite runner-up at +110. The Ivory Coast is just slightly less favoured to win the group compared to Ecuador at +600, while Curacao is an extreme long shot to even make it out of the group at +13,000.
Germany preview and analysis
Analysts are very confident in Germany’s qualification from the group (-10000), which is largely due to their roster strength, which features several top-class players, including Florian Wirtz, Joshua Kimmich, Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, Manuel Neuer, Antonio Rudiger, and more.
Even if they fail to win the group, they are still projected as the most likely to qualify and are priced at -500 to score in every game. While the four-time World Cup winners likely won’t walk through the competition like 2014, they are marked at +900 to place as the top European team in the tournament, and +125 to win all their group games, which says a lot.
Ecuador preview and analysis
The second-place CONMEBOL side of Ecuador enters the tourney with an impressive 8-8-2 record from South American qualifiers. Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo and PSG’s Willian Pacho headline the team after a swift exit from the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
Other than Germany, Ecuador is the other qualifying candidate, and the highest likely runner-up at +110, expected to qualify at -900. Assuming Germany gives every team in the group trouble, the Ivory Coast will be their main target to overcome to progress further in the tourney.
Ivory Coast preview and analysis
The Ivory Coast looks ready to go after a quarterfinal AFCON knockout to Egypt in January. The African side has plenty of high-quality players to look out for, including Manchester United’s Amad Diallo, Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, Al-Ahli’s Franck Kessie, and Villarreal’s Nicolas Pepe.
The squad is expected to qualify at -500, and has a near-even chance to be group runner-ups at +160 if Ecuador doesn’t take up their spot. They could even net a goal in every group game at +180, but it may come down to their offensive performance against solid teams like Germany. On paper, the Ivory Coast will need to perform well with at least a win and a draw in their first and second group stage games before taking on Curacao in the last game to have any chance of moving on.
Curacao preview and analysis
Curacao will be ecstatic to perform in their first-ever World Cup appearance. They are, however, projected as one of the weakest teams with a shallower talent pool. The team features players from a variety of leagues, including the English Championship (Tahith Chong, Sontje Hansen), the Eredivisie (Juninho Bacuna), Ligue 1 (Gervane Kastaneer), and Turkish, Swiss, and Greek Super Leagues.
Anything’s possible, but the side will rely on non-top-flight talent, with many players not on the same club teams, which puts them at +1200 to even qualify out of the group. Their best shot as runners-up is +3500, mostly because Germany, Ecuador, and the Ivory Coast have at least one player who has experience on top teams in top leagues. They are easily projected to finish at the bottom at -1800, but upsets do happen in the World Cup.
2026 FIFA World Cup Group E Prediction: Dual Forecast – 1st: Germany | 2nd: Ecuador (-110)
While upsets are abundant in the three group stage matches, Germany has already gotten its horrendous early exit in the 2022 World Cup out of the way and showcased a rebirth of playstyle, with many teammates coming from top German and English clubs. The group is also not as dense for the Germans as it was in the last tournament, and we can expect the European side to come out with at least two wins (one over Curacao).
As Ecuador comes out of the CONMEBOL with decent results, they look like formidable challengers to the group, with realistically, the Ivory Coast being the only other nation to swipe their spot.
With these factors considered, expect Germany to place at the top of Group E and Ecuador to finish in second place as your best bet (-110), with Germany also seeking a goal in every game of the stage at -500.
Best Bet: Dual Forecast – 1st: Germany | 2nd: Ecuador (-110)
Group Winner: Germany (-310)
