Team Canada Day 7
Here’s a look at Canada’s top medal contenders on Day 7 of the Paris Games (all times Eastern).
Felix Auger-Aliassime and Gabriela Dabrowski, tennis, mixed doubles bronze match (9 a.m.)
After losing their semifinal match, Canada will face the Dutch duo of Wesley Koolhof and Demi Schuurs for the bronze medal in the third match of the day. It’s expected to start sometime after 9 a.m.
It will be a busy day for Auger-Aliassime as he’s also set to play in the men’s singles semifinals against Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.
Josh Liendo, swimming, men’s 50m freestyle (2:30 p.m.)
Liendo locked up the last spot in his event, which is an outright sprint sometimes called the “splash ‘n’ dash”.
Kylie Masse, swimming, women’s 200m backstroke final (2:36 p.m.)
Masse is a three-time backstroke world champion who won silver in the event in Tokyo. She finished with the fifth-best time in Thursday’s semifinals.
Finlay Knox, swimming, men’s 200m IM final (2:43 p.m.)
Knox is the reigning world champion, but keep in mind that most of the top level swimmers avoided competing in an Olympic year. He scraped into the final with the eighth-fastest time in the semis.
Moh Ahmed, track and field, men’s 10,000m final (3:20 p.m.)
Ahmed won silver in the 5,000m three years ago in Tokyo, which he will also run in Paris, and he finished sixth in the 10,000m. He’s expected to be a long shot to reach the podium.
