Canada vs. New Zealand Prediction: Olympic Women’s Soccer Odds
It’s the opening Olympic game for both teams, so fans and bettors alike are hoping they’ll be bringing their A-game to set the tone for the rest of the tournament.
CDNWNT vs. New Zealand Betting Odds
Canada had an incredible run at the Tokyo Olympics, beating Brazil and the USA before winning gold against Sweden. Their 2023 World Cup run wasn’t as impressive, but they bounced back by beating Jamaica to qualify for Paris. Canada has made it out of the group stage in their last four Olympics, so expectations are high.
New Zealand had a tough World Cup, finishing level on points with Norway but missing the quarter-finals on goal difference. They’ve got a mix of new faces and seasoned players, ready to give it another shot in France.
Canada
The CDNWNT are kicking off their Olympic title defence against New Zealand in Saint-Etienne on Thursday. They’ve been on a roll at the Olympics, grabbing bronze in 2012 and 2016, and winning gold in Tokyo 2020. The current futures odds don’t give them the best shot at winning it all again this year, but they’re aiming for another medal this summer.
New Zealand
New Zealand Women, or the Football Ferns, are looking to make a splash and defy the numbers as the group’s longest odds team to win. They co-hosted the last World Cup but didn’t make it past the group stage. They’ve got another shot at it in Paris after winning the OFC Olympic qualifying tournament. This is their fifth straight Olympics, and they’re hoping to finally break out of the group stage.
