Frank drops tonight’s best hockey bets in NHL Puck Luck.
Star power is factoring into this line and the total. Yes, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Alex Ovechkin, and Nicklas Backstrom will be sharing the ice tonight, but these teams play under the total more than you might realize. Pittsburgh has topped just seven totals in 20 games, while Washington has played over in 11 of 21 games. Neither team wants to turn this into a trackmeet because that can get out hand in a hurry. Look to Washington at home or take the under.
If you don’t know Minnesota Wild goaltender Josh Harding’s story, check it out. Since publicly announcing he had multiple sclerosis back in Nov. 2012, he says very little about his condition. You see, he’s been a little busy getting healthy and then putting together the best stretch of his career this year after starter Niklas Backstrom was injured. Harding was pulled in last night’s loss to Montreal, but expect him to bounce back. He’s 9-2-2 with a 1.22 goals-against average and .947 save percentage to go along with two shutouts. Meanwhile, Ottawa is coming off a pair of ugly loses and can’t seem to get it together.
Martin Brodeur might not be the goaltending workhorse he once was, but don’t write him off just yet. He has won each of his last four starts while allowing just three goals over that span. This is a tough test against a big, fast Anaheim team. The Ducks are riding a four-game losing skid with only six goals to show for their efforts. Smells like an under.
