A trying East Coast road trip has put a significant black mark on the Vegas Golden Knights’ red-hot start. They’ll try to turn the tide Saturday afternoon as they continue their six-game trek with a visit to the Canadian capital for a date with the Ottawa Senators. Vegas kicked off its inaugural campaign with wins in eight of its first nine games, but fell 2-1 to Boston on Thursday for its third consecutive loss. Ottawa is coming off a 3-1 home victory over Detroit.

NHL Odds and Betting Analysis

The Senators have been one of the toughest teams to snag two points against this season, with just two regulation losses through their first 13 games. That run, combined with Vegas’ recent slump, makes Ottawa a heavy favourite on the NHL odds board. The Senators have been sensational on the weekend, with seven wins in their last eight games on Saturday night. But Ottawa has also prevailed just twice in its last eight games following a victory.

Bettors are putting their faith in the home team, with 78 percent of Sports Interaction participants taking the Senators. They’re also expecting this one to be a wide-open affair, with two-thirds of Sports Interaction bettors going with the over on a six-goal total. The Golden Knights have gone over the total in six straight games after allowing two or fewer goals in their previous contest, while the Senators are 36-17-2 O/U in their last 55 games vs. Pacific Division foes.

Vegas Golden Knights

With the top three goaltenders on their depth chart all on the sidelines, the Golden Knights struggled to keep the puck out of the net in the first two games of their road trip, but put forth a much better defensive effort in the loss to the Bruins. Goal-scoring hasn’t been a problem for Vegas, which ranks seventh in the NHL at 3.5 goals per game. That scoring has been well spread out, with more than a dozen players registering at least five points to date.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators could comfortably get into a goal-fest with the Golden Knights, but they’d be just as happy to see this one settled on special teams. Ottawa has been sensational in non-5-on-5 situations so far in 2017-18, ranking ninth in power-play success rate (20.8 percent) and fifth in penalty killing (86.1 percent). Also worth noting: the Senators boast the league’s best faceoff success rate, winning 53.4 percent of their draws.
