The Leafs will be looking for answers after losing three of their previous four games – and oddsmakers are making this one a virtual toss-up with the Flames having won eight of their last 12. It’s the opener of a four-game homestand for Calgary, which is coming off a 3-1-1 showing on its recent five-game trek.

NHL Odds and Betting Analysis

Calgary comes in as an ever-so-slight favourite over the Maple Leafs (-105), who have just five wins in their last 16 encounters with Pacific Division teams. That said, Toronto has won seven of its previous 10 overall and is 5-2 in its last seven when scoring two or fewer goals in its previous game. Calgary has rolled to victories in five of its last six home games, but has the support of just 31 percent of Sports Interaction bettors.

A game total of six hasn’t scared off the over crowd, with 84 percent of betters going in that direction. But Toronto has exceeded the total just twice in its last nine games overall and is an incredible 3-13 O/U in its last 16 games against teams from the Pacific. The Flames, meanwhile, have played four consecutive overs at Scotiabank Saddledome and are 15-4-2 O/U in their previous 21 contests when playing on two days’ rest.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs’ power play was one of the team’s strong suits early in the season, but has faded significantly of late. Toronto has converted just 6-of-35 man-advantage opportunities in November, and hasn’t scored multiple power-play goals since the fourth game of the season, they misfired on their only chance in Saturday’s 4-2 loss to the Washington Capitals. The month-long slump has dropped the Maple Leafs to 11th in overall efficiency at 22.1 percent.

Calgary Flames

If Toronto’s power play is looking for a get-right opportunity, this might be it. The Flames are off to a terrific start, but will need to address their penalty-killing struggles if they hope to make the leap into the Western Conference elite. Calgary has the league’s worst penalty-kill rate at 73.8 percent, thanks in part to allowing four man-advantage goals in an 8-2 loss to Detroit on Nov. 15. But the Flames have surrendered just one power-play goal in their past five games.
