Dallas Stars vs. Minnesota Wild Game 4 Prediction, NHL Playoff Odds
The Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild are set for a pivotal Game 4 matchup on Saturday night.
The Stars were able to take control of the series with a massive 4-3 win in double overtime in Game 3 on Wednesday. Wyatt Johnston netted the game-winner to give Dallas a 2-1 series lead.
The Wild have their backs against the wall, but they are more than capable of evening up this series on home ice.
This should be a tremendous hockey game to watch unfold.
Stars vs. Wild NHL Betting Odds
Despite holding a 2-1 series lead, the Stars find themselves as underdogs on the NHL odds in this Game 4 matchup. Dallas enters with odds of +114 on the moneyline, while Minnesota has odds of -135.
When it comes to the puckline, Dallas +1.5 is listed at -218, while Minnesota -1.5 has odds of +180. On the season, the Stars have a record of 34-51 against the spread, while Minnesota is just above the .500-mark at 43-42. The total for this matchup is listed at 5.5 with juiced odds of -130 to the over and +110 to the under. Both of these teams tend to play in high-scoring games, as the over has been victorious more times than not. Specifically, the over is 43-40-2 for the Stars this season and 47-34-4 for the Wild.
With odds of +130, Minnesota’s Kirill Kaprizov has the shortest odds of any player to score a goal in this Game 4 matchup. Kaprizov potted a goal in Game 1, but has been quiet since. He led the Wild with 45 goals in the regular season. Jason Robertson has the shortest odds of any Stars player to score a goal, as his goal-scoring odds are listed at +140. Robertson was tied with Wyatt Johnston for the team lead in goals during the regular season with 45. Robertson has been firing on all cylinders in the playoffs, as he’s found the back of the net in all three games of this series so far.
Dallas Stars
The Stars decided to move on from Peter DeBoer at the end of last season, and are hoping Glen Gulutzan can get them over the hump in the playoffs. Dallas has made the Western Conference Finals in each of the last three seasons, but have zero Stanley Cup Final appearances to show for it.
Dallas has responded extremely well following a blowout 6-1 loss in Game 1 on home ice. The Stars looked as bad as they could in that game, but they bounced back in roaring fashion to take a 2-1 series lead heading into Game 4.
Jake Oettinger has gotten back on track in a big way, which has propelled Dallas to a pair of wins over the last two games. He’s turned aside 57 of the 62 shots he’s faced over the last two games, which is good for a save percentage of .919. If the Stars are going to take a commanding 3-1 series lead, Oettinger needs to be on his game.
Minnesota Wild
The Wild have been regulars in the playoffs over the last several years, as they’ve qualified for the postseason in all but two seasons since 2012-13. However, they have yet to make an appearance in the Western Conference Finals.
Looking to change that, Minnesota made a blockbuster trade to acquire superstar defenceman Quinn Hughes earlier this season. Hughes has been dynamite for his new team, racking up 53 points on five goals and 48 assists in 48 games with Minnesota during the regular season. He has four assists through three games in this series, and figures to keep playing a deciding role in Minnesota’s postseason fate.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Stars vs. Wild Game 4?
This series has seven games written all over it. The Wild and Stars are so evenly matched in just about every facet of the game, and both teams have put forth strong performances in this series so far. Looking to avoid a 3-1 hole, look for the Wild to put forth a complete effort to tie things up before the series shifts back to Dallas. I expect the Wild to win this game 3-2.
