Stars vs. Oilers Prediction: NHL Betting Odds

The good news is they’re coming off an encouraging outing where they blitzed the Los Angeles Kings 8-4. Now comes a much tougher test as the Oilers host the Dallas Starts, who are currently in seventh place in the Western Conference.

Stars vs Oilers Betting Analysis

Dallas entered Wednesday’s game against Calgary with a 17-17-3 on the road this season. However, the Stars were also 5-0 in their last five road games heading into the contest, so they’ve turned things around. The Stars tend to play well on Thursday – for whatever reason – as they are 4-1 in their last five games played on Thursday night.

Edmonton is 18-17-3 on home ice so far this season. The Oilers are just 4-15 in their last 19 games versus teams with a winning record and 1-6 versus Central division opponents.

These teams split their first two meetings of the season with each team winning on home ice.

Dallas Stars

The Stars began their current four-game trip with a massive 5-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets, one of the best teams in the NHL. However, that was just their second win in their previous six contests as they’ve been in a funk.

The Stars main issue continues to be goal scoring as this team is ranked 29th in the league in goals per game (2.54). Of course, they make up for it by being second-best in goals allowed per game (2.46). The challenge is that the offence falls even further down the rabbit hole on the road, scoring just 2.30 goals per game. The good news is the offence has perked up on the road recently, scoring four goals in Los Angeles, four at St. Louis, four at Minnesota and the five at Winnipeg.

Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers can’t afford to lose even one more game. The problem is that they have been in that situation for some time but still lost games to the Ottawa Senators and New Jersey Devils in recent weeks. Mikko Koskinen has been far too inconsistent in between the pipes for Edmonton, giving up four goals in Tuesday’s 8-4 win over the Los Angeles Kings. He is now 24-18-5 with a 2.90 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage so far this season but he has been far better at home than on the road.

The Oilers offence continues to rely heavily on stars like Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. However, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins scored a hat trick against the Kings, which is a great sign. If he can get going, that might give this team the boost they need to make the playoffs.

The Oilers took advantage of a tired Kings team on Tuesday as Los Angeles had played in Calgary the night before. This game sets up similarly as the Stars are in a back-to-back on the road after playing in Calgary as well.
