Dallas Stars vs. Seattle Kraken Game 4 Prediction, NHL Odds
The Kraken greatly benefited from an extra day off and a trip back to their home arena, putting on their most impressive offensive performance yet in a 7-2 victory on Sunday.
The Stars are the favourites to win Game 4 on Tuesday, sitting at -147 on the NHL odds, with the total set at 5.5 goals. Puck drop in Seattle is set for 9:30 p.m. ET.
Stars vs. Kraken NHL Betting Odds
With a 2-1 lead in the series, the Seattle Kraken have flipped the odds and are now the favourite to advance at -127 on the NHL Series board. Dallas originally opened as -222 favourites before Game 1. Despite being favoured to win the series, oddsmakers have the likeliest outcome as a 4-3 series win for the Stars listed at +259. The series Over/Under is set for 5.5 games with the Over a heavy favourite (-588) and this one being over in seven games is the most probable outcome at +129.
Game 3 was the sixth straight matchup to hit the Over between the Stars and Kraken and the third to feature a total of nine goals, which is likely why a whopping 96 per cent of bets are being placed on the Over in Game 4. It is now back-to-back games where there were no goals in the first period. The first period Over/Under is set at 1.5, with the Under slightly favoured.
Dallas has yet to lose back-to-back games through the first two rounds of the postseason and holds a 2-2 record on the road after taking their worst loss yet in Game 3. They were in this exact position in the opening round after losing two of the first three games, before winning three straight to put the series away.
Dallas Stars
Stars goalie Jake Oettinger had the worst performance of his young NHL career in Game 3, giving up five goals on 17 shots. Oettinger was pulled at the end of the second period and replaced by Scott Wedgewood. It was the 30-year-old Wedgewood’s first-ever NHL playoff appearance and he faced eight shots, giving up two goals.
The most alarming event in Game 3 had to be Stars defenceman Miro Heiskanen taking a puck to the face and being forced to leave the game. The 23-year-old Finn has been the Stars’ best defenceman all season, posting 73 points (11G 62A) in 79 games during the regular season. Heiskanen has seven assists so far this postseason. It is still unclear if he is good to go for Game 4 as he is considered a game-time decision.
After a 109-point campaign this season, Jason Robertson is still pointless in this second-round matchup. He had a few good chances in Game 3, including a breakaway, but could not beat the Seattle netminder.
Seattle Kraken
If it is not broken, do not fix it: that is exactly what the Kraken did in Game 3, using all four lines to pull off the 7-2 win. Seven different players scored in the game and they have now had 16 goals scorers so far this playoffs.
After a scoreless first period, the Kraken came alive, scoring four goals in six minutes to take a 4-0 lead before the midway point of the second period. Jordan Eberle got the offence started with his team-leading fourth of the postseason and has now scored in all three games of the series.
Seattle is averaging almost five goals per game in this second-round matchup and is doing so without their lone 40-goal scorer this season, Jared McCann. McCann has missed six games after getting injured in the first round but has recently returned to practicing with the team. He could return for Game 4 on Tuesday, but it is still unclear.
