Dallas Stars vs. Seattle Kraken Game 3 Prediction, NHL Odds

Joe Pavelski’s supporting cast showed up in Game 2, helping the Dallas Stars to a 4-2 win to even the series 1-1. Dallas has yet to lose back-to-back games this postseason.

The Stars are the favourites to win on the NHL odds at -147 with the total set at 5.5 goals. Puck drop from Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle is set for 9:30 p.m. ET Sunday.

Stars vs. Kraken NHL Betting Odds

Dallas’ win in Game 2 kept them as the favourite to win the series with odds at -200. That leaves the Kraken at +176 on the NHL series board. Oddsmakers have the series being tight, ending in six games is a slight favourite at +160 and just behind that is seven games at +165.

In five meetings this year between the regular season and the playoffs, Seattle and Dallas have hit the Over every time. The Stars are 4-3-1 to the Over so far this postseason, giving up just 2.6 goals per game, second-least amongst teams remaining in the playoffs. The Kraken are 3-6 on the Over/Under after only hitting the Over once in the first round.

The road team is 4-1 in their head-to-heads this season after the Stars win on home ice in Game 2. Dallas beat the Kraken 4-3 in overtime and 5-2 back in March when they played in Seattle. Both squads lost Game 3 of Round 1.

Dallas Stars

After a scoreless first period in Game 2, it opened up in the second, but not in Seattle’s favour. They allowed back-to-back goals before rookie Tye Kartye scored his second goal of the playoffs off a feed from Vince Dunn to cut the lead in half. Seattle would then give up two more goals, before scoring one with only 3:28 left in the game. Jordan Eberle’s third of the postseason, and second of the series, would not be enough though as their late push would fall short in a 4-2 loss.

Seattle’s leading scorer this season, Jared McCann, returned to practice on Saturday but is still unlikely to return for Game 3. The 40-goal scorer has been out since Game 4 of the first round with an undisclosed injury after taking a hard hit that resulted in a one-game suspension for Avalanche defenceman Cale Makar.

The Kraken had a better record as the road team in the regular season and the trend has continued into the playoffs. They were just 1-2 at home in the first round.

Seattle Kraken

After Pavelski’s triumphant return in Game 1, when he scored all four of Dallas’ goals in a 5-4 loss, his teammates stepped up big to support him in Game 2. The 19-year-old Wyatt Johnston (2nd) scored the first goal of the game after a scoreless opening period. Trade deadline acquisition Evgenii Dadonov would then score his fourth of the playoffs and Pavelski (5th) would score on the power play to cap off a three-goal second period. In the third, Tyler Seguin would notch his fifth of the playoffs and the Stars would hold off the Kraken’s late push for a 4-2 win.

Dallas would get all three stars of the game with Seguin and Johnston each scoring a goal and an assist and Jake Oettinger stopping 25 of 27 shots.

After picking up 109 points in the regular season, Stars forward Jason Robertson is pointless through the first two games of the second round. While Dallas would love for their young superstar to step up, it speaks to the depth they have throughout their lineup.
