Dallas Stars vs. Winnipeg Jets Prediction, NHL Odds
On Tuesday night in the NHL, we are treated to a big Central Division matchup, as the Winnipeg Jets host the Dallas Stars.
Over the past several seasons, both the Stars and Jets have been elite contenders within the Western Conference. While both rosters look excellent, only one team (Dallas) has translated that into on-ice success.
These teams played in the season opener, ending in a 5-4 Dallas win, and this game is the second of four meetings this season. To get you set for all of the action, here is our Stars vs. Jets preview and prediction.
The Stars are -145 favourites to win on the NHL odds, with the total set at 6.0.
Stars vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds
Against the spread (ATS), the Winnipeg Jets are 13-15, while the Dallas Stars are surprisingly poor at 12-18. Within the game totals, Winnipeg is 15-13-0 to the Over, while Dallas is 13-17-0. In their last ten matchups overall, the Stars own a 6-4-0 record.
Jason Robertson (+120) leads the way in scoring odds with his incredible season, with Wyatt Johnston (+160) and Mikko Rantanen (+165) close behind. As for Winnipeg, Kyle Connor (+140) and Mark Scheifele (+180) lead the way.
Dallas Stars
The Dallas Stars have already solidified themselves as one of the top teams in the NHL. With a record of 20-5-5, they are second in the league and sit just three points behind the Colorado Avalanche.
However, not everything is sunshine and rainbows in Dallas. Tyler Seguin, Lian Bichsel, and Ilya Lybushkin will all be out with injury, with stud defenceman Thomas Harley questionable. Injuries are something every team faces, and a team like the Stars should be able to handle them. They are 8-0-2 in their last ten games, and show no signs of slowing.
Winnipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets are usually a perennial threat to win the Central Division, but so far, it has been a tough season. Their 14-13-1 record has them sixth in the Central Division, sitting 16 points behind the Dallas Stars, with two games in hand.
After a very short but needed 1-0-1 run, Winnipeg is coming off a 6-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. Things haven’t been better in the injury column, as elite starting goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is out long-term. If the Jets were ever to need home ice advantage, an opponent like the Stars is the time to need it. They are a capable team, but make no mistake, they are in for a tall task to change the trend from a current stretch of 2-6-1.
NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Stars vs. Jets?
The importance of this game cannot be understated, but one of these teams has just been far better than the other, and that is the Dallas Stars. Even though they are more injured and on the road, they are extremely deep, and this will challenge and give others a chance to step up on a stacked roster.
We have yet to see an expected dominance from Winnipeg, and an elite opponent is not usually the one to change any recent trends. I expect Dallas to win 4-1.
