Dallas Stars vs. Winnipeg Jets Game 5 Prediction, NHL Odds
The Stars are up 3-1 in it, but the Jets are short favourites on the NHL odds to extend it to a Game 6. The total is again 5.5 goals Thursday.
Stars vs. Jets NHL Playoff Betting Odds
We projected a 4-2 Dallas home win in Game 4 and weren’t far off as it prevailed 3-1 for a series lead by the same score. The Stars are now -1400 to win it (were -350 entering Game 3) and the Jets +775 (were +280). I have leaned Dallas in six all series (currently priced +210) and won’t be changing that. That it does end in a Game 6 is +210, while Game 7 +350. The Stars/North Stars own an all-time series record of 13-1 when leading a best-of-seven series by a score of 3-1. The Jets are 0-3 in a series they trail 3-1.
Still no overtime games in the series and that there will not be is -210. I’m going to stick with one for the last time at +210. Still just the one shutout in the series and one game remains the -800 favourite. Not much point at that price, so two games at +500 seems like value.
That both Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck and Dallas’ Jake Oettinger record at least 18 saves in every game of the series is -165, and that should win barring one guy getting injured or pulled. You can also get each American goalie at +950 to record an unlikely point in the series.
Dallas Stars
The Stars got excellent defender Miro Heiskanen back from injury for the first time in months Tuesday in Game 4 and prevailed 3-1 to take the commanding series lead and move within one victory of their third straight trip to the conference finals. Heiskanen had an assist in 14:52 of ice time. But the obvious No. 1 star was Mikael Granlund with his first career playoff hat trick – scoring two of those on the power play. The 33-year-old forward had scored multiple goals only one time in his previous 69 playoff games, for Minnesota in 2014.
The Stars have three playoff hat tricks already in this postseason, with Mikko Rantanen accounting for the other two. It marks the third time the team has recorded that many in a postseason – one of just four franchises to do so in multiple playoff years. Rantanen stayed hot with an assist and leads the league with 19 playoff points. Jake Oettinger became the second goaltender in franchise history with 30 wins, joining Ed Belfour (44). Dallas is 13-23 all-time in road Game 5s.
Winnipeg Jets
That’s now nine straight playoff road losses for the Jets and Connor Hellebuyck with Tuesday’s defeat, but Hellebuyck played somewhat better than he did in the previous four road games in 2025. He still allowed least three goals for the ninth time in 11 playoff games this year and 18th time in 21 games including the previous two postseasons. The American has 95 wins in games following a loss in the regular season and playoffs combined dating to the 2019-20 season. The only goaltender with more is Tampa Bay’s future Hall of Famer Andrei Vasilevskiy with 104.
The Jets finished with a 32-24 advantage in shots on goal and a 72-45 edge in shot attempts in Game 4. Nikolaj Ehlers’ third goal of these playoffs tied it 1-1 early in the second. It was Ehlers’ seventh career playoff goal to tie Jannik Hansen for the third most by a Danish-born player in league history. Kyle Connor assisted for his ninth helper of these playoffs to tie Paul Stastny (2018) for the third most in a playoff year by a Jets/Thrashers player. Blake Wheeler holds the mark of 18 in 2018. Special teams has been a problem in the series, and that continued on Tuesday as the Jets fell to 1-for-15 on the power play in it. And they allowed those two Dallas goals with the man advantage on four tries. Winnipeg is 2-3 all-time in home Game 5s but beat St. Louis in the last round in such. The Jets are 5-1 at home this postseason, and we think force a Game 6.
