Dallas Stars vs. Winnipeg Jets: NHL Odds, Prediction
This current six game road trip hasn’t been fun for the Dallas Stars. Still in search of their first win, the Stars face a team in the Winnipeg Jets that haven’t been kind to them, looking for points in a playoff race.
Stars vs Jets Betting Analysis
The Jets have dominated the Stars as of late, winners of seven in a row entering this one, including four wins against them on home ice. The over is 5-1 in the last six games head-to-head, so expect scoring to be a priority for both teams. The Stars have struggled against the Central division this season, going 11-12-0 this year, while the Jets are 12-8-2 against the division, and more importantly 25-7-2 on home ice.
Dallas Stars
The Dallas Stars haven’t picked a great time to start a slide. Losers of four straight games, and in the middle of a playoff race, the Stars have been spinning their wheels as of late and now find themselves barely hanging onto a wildcard spot in the Western Conference. Tyler Seguin has scored in back to back games for the Stars; he now has 38 goals on the season, and has vaulted himself back in the race for the Rocket Richard trophy, now only four goals away from leading goal scorer Alex Ovechkin.
Goaltender Ben Bishop played just his second game in 11 days Friday, so it will be interesting to see what goalie gets the start against the Jets. Brett Ritchie did not play Friday and is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury, while defenceman Marc Methot say out his second consecutive game with a hand injury. No word on whether either will play against the Jets.
Winnipeg Jets
The Jets must focus on is maintaining second place in their division. Currently they have a seven point lead on Minnesota, and hope to build off of it Sunday against the Dallas Stars. The Jets are coming off a big 6-2 win over the Blackhawks Friday. It was the first time in the last seven games that the Jets went over the number, and that’s surprising considering the Jets are 5th in goals scored (236 goals), and 4th in per game average (3.3).
The Jets welcomed back Paul Stastny to the line-up after missing one game; he chipped in with one goal. Also, Jacob Trouba was back on the ice for the first time since January 25, he registered two assists in 14:47 of ice time. Breaking news Saturday afternoon, as the Jets announced defenceman Dmitry Kulikov will undergo back surgery and will be out of action for at least eight weeks. It’s apparently the same injury he had last season when he missed 35 games with the Buffalo Sabres.
