Stars vs. Canadiens NHL Betting Odds

The Habs go for the series sweep tonight in their second and final meeting with the Stars this season. Samuel Montembeault made a career-high 48 saves to lead Montreal to a 5-3 victory on January 18th. Their two most recent head-to-heads have played the Over, leading 81 percent of the bets in that direction. 71 percent of the betting action is on Dallas’s side, but the Canadiens boast a 6-3-1 record in their past 10 meetings.

Dallas has only covered once during their current three-game skid, dropping them to 26-32 ATS this season. Six of their past eight road games have played the Under and they only won four of them.

The Over is 6-1 in Montreal’s past seven games, putting them at 34-24 on the year. They have the worst goals against in the league, giving up an averaging of 3.6 per game, along with the worst goal differential at -81.

Dallas Stars

The Stars were blanked 4-0 in Toronto Tuesday night suffering their third loss in a row. It marked the fourth time this season Dallas was shutout as they continue to struggle to win on the road.  This team trails the Vegas Golden Knights by only one point for the final wildcard spot in the West but hold four games in hand. The extra games may not matter if they do not improve their 12-15-2 record on the road.

Always look out for Joe Pavelski when playing against Montreal, in 20 career games versus the Habs, he has 21 points (9G, 12A). The Stars are next in action Saturday afternoon against the New York Islanders.

Montreal Canadiens

Cole Caufield sniped two goals eight seconds apart in Tuesday night’s 6-3 losing effort versus the Arizona Coyotes. Sam Montembeault started his fifth game in just 10 days and showed fatigue getting pulled after allowing four goals on seven shots.

Caufield is on a tear with 19 points (10G, 9A) over his past 15 games. He has climbed up to third on the team with 27 points in 45 games. After being a healthy scratch Tuesday GM Kent Hughes pulled the trigger and traded coveted defenceman Ben Chiarot. The deal sent Chiarot to Florida for a prospect, a first-round pick and a fourth-round pick.
