Dallas Stars vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction, NHL Odds
The Stars and Blues will jockey for position in the Central Division when they meet in St. Louis on Sunday afternoon. It’s a quick turnaround for Dallas following their 3-2 home win against Pittsburgh on Saturday, while the Blues pounded Washington 5-1 on Friday.
St. Louis is favoured to win on the NHL odds.
Stars vs. Blues NHL Betting Odds
The Blues have got the better of Dallas this season, winning 4-1 each of the two times these teams have met. Vladimir Tarasenko has been the most productive St. Louis player, picking up three goals and two assists over the two games. Dating back to last season, the total has gone Under in four consecutive games between these teams.
Dallas’ road woes have hurt them this season. The Stars are just 4-9-1 outside of Texas, including their current five-game road losing streak, compared to 12-3-1 at home. They’re 13-17 against the spread overall and have failed to cover in 10 of 14 road dates. The Under is 4-1 in the Stars’ last five road games.
St. Louis has taken advantage of home ice. The Blues have won 10 of their last 11 home games and are 13-3-2 at Enterprise Center this season. They’ve also been a decent cover option, going 20-15 ATS overall and 12-6 ATS at home. The total has gone Under in the Blues’ last five home games.
Dallas Stars
Roope Hintz scored the winner on Saturday to snap Pittsburgh’s 10-game win streak and extended the Stars’ own win streak to four. Denis Gurianov and Joe Pavelski also scored, while Jason Robertson assisted on all three Dallas goals. Jake Oettinger made 27 saves. Hintz and Pavelski share the team lead at 13 goals each. Pavelski and Robertson (11g, 18A) share the team lead in points with 29 apiece. The Stars trailed 2-1 heading into the third period before Pavelski tied the game with five minutes to play and Hintz added the winner just over a minute later. John Klingberg picked up an assist in the win, hours after it was reported the offensive defenceman requested a trade out of Dallas. Klingberg (1G, 16A) would be a hot trade commodity, although the Stars are within reach of a playoff spot and may need him for a postseason run.
It’s unclear who will start in net on Sunday between Oettinger and Braden Holtby. Oettinger is 8-2-0 this season with a 2.22 GAA and .923 SV. Holtby is 6-7-1 with a 2.59 GAA and .919 SV.
St. Louis Blues
Pavel Buchnevich had two goals and an assist on Friday as St. Louis scored five unanswered goals in the win. Torey Krug, Oskar Sundqvist and Ivan Barbashev also potted goals. In his first game action since Dec. 7, Ville Husso stopped 26 of 27 shots faced. Tarasenko, Scott Perunovich and Jake Walman missed the game in COVID protocols and will likely be out Sunday as well. The Tarasenko loss is a big blow to the Blues’ offence as the Russian sniper leads the team in goals (14) and is tied for the team leads in points (34). Prior to missing his first game of the season, Tarasenko had six goals and five assists in his previous 11 games. Jordan Kyrou has also put up 34 points (13G, 21A).
St. Louis should turn back to Jordan Binnington in net on Sunday. Binnington has had a bit of a down year, positing a 10-7-3 record with a 3.00 goals-against average and .908 save percentage.
