San Jose Sharks vs. Winnipeg Jets Prediction, NHL Odds

They’re visiting the Winnipeg Jets on Monday, who hold the eighth and final playoff spot in the West. Winnipeg hopes to rally and keep their hot streak alive, having won three out of their past four. Can they win as a big favorite or will they blow it?

Sharks vs. Jets NHL Betting Odds

The Sharks are 3-8 over their past 11 games played against teams from the Central Division and are 15-43 in their last 58 games overall coming into this one. As for the total, the over has hit in their past five games overall and their last four games played out on the road. Not to mention that it’s hit in their last six when playing on one day of rest.

As for the Jets, they’ve compiled a 22-8 record in their last 30 games when going up against a team with a winning percentage lower than .400 on the year. However, they are just 1-4 in their last five games against teams from the Pacific Division. Their total has seen the under hit in their past five games against those Pacific Division teams.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks are already eliminated from postseason contention and they’re playing like they can’t wait for the season to end. San Jose has been crushed in their last two outings, being outscored 12-3 in that small stretch. To make matters worse, both of those games were played at home. Luckily, they get to hit the road and attempt to make a late-season statement in Winnipeg. They’ll likely have to do so without their defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic, who suffered an upper-body injury and missed the remainder of their previous outing against Edmonton.

The one true positive from San Jose at this stage has been the play of Erik Karlsson, a guy that could become one of the few defensemen to ever surpass 100 points in a season. He’s currently resting at 98, recently being held off the board against the Edmonton Oilers. San Jose doesn’t have much to play for, but Karlsson could certainly break that milestone here.

Winnipeg Jets

Connor Hellebuyck racked up his fourth shutout of the season when they took down the Nashville Predators on Saturday night. The win helped keep the Jets in the race for a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. They currently remain just one point above the Calgary Flames and two above the aforementioned Predators in this race with three games left to go. They do have a game in hand over the Flames, though.

Winnipeg has now won three out of their past four games, outscoring their opponents 14-3 in those three victories. Their lone loss was a 3-1 defeat against Calgary on Wednesday. Outside of that, the Jets have been playing with one mission on their minds: to make it into the postseason. The Sharks are just 7-14 in their last 21 against winning teams. If the Jets are at all focused here, they should cruise.
