Ottawa Senators vs. Minnesota Wild Prediction, NHL Odds
Minnesota is coming off back-to-back 4-1 losses in Seattle and Colorado, but they remain just two points back of first-place St. Louis in the central Division standings. Conversely, the Senators close out a three-game road trip in Minnesota, reeling after a 5-1 defeat in Chicago on Monday that marks their fourth loss in five outings.
The Wild are set to hit the ice at Xcel Energy Center on Tuesday perched as lofty -220 favourites to win on the NHL odds. And with both these clubs struggling to score in recent outings, the total is pegged at just 5.5.
Senators vs. Wild NHL Betting Odds
After turning in steady defensive performances early on in the schedule, the Senators have struggled to contain opposing shooters in recent outings. Listed as +183 road underdogs in Tuesday’s contest, the Sens have surrendered five or more goals in two of three games, while allowing 31 or more shots in each of those contests. In addition to fuelling interest in the OVER, which has attracted 60 per cent of bets, Ottawa’s recent woes have made the Wild a popular pick on Tuesday, with 86 per cent of wagers backing Minnesota.
Tuesday night’s matchup marks the first meeting between these two teams since November 2019. The Wild have dominated the head-to-head, claiming victory in each of their past eight meetings, and outscoring the Senators by a wide 21-8 margin in four straight home wins. Even with Ottawa tallying two or fewer goals on five occasions during their lengthy swoon versus the Wild, the OVER has consistently paid out, going 5-2-0 over their past seven dates.
Ottawa Senators
Filip Gustavsson will be gunning for a third win in as many starts this season when he takes the crease for the Senators on Tuesday. Gustavsson has been between the pipes for two of Ottawa’s three victories this season, stopping 70 of 73 total shots. Gustavsson has also benefited from early leads in two of his three starts, but there was no sign of an offensive spark in Monday’s loss in Chicago. In addition, the Senators have been a steady disappointment in the back half of games played on consecutive nights, losing 10 of 11 overall, and eight straight on the road while scoring just 13 total goals.
Minnesota Wild
The Wild return home looking to rediscover the offensive touch that netted them almost four goals per game during a 4-0-0 start. The club has tallied just seven total goals while losing three of four since, fuelling a 3-0 run for the UNDER. Complicating matters is a wave of injuries that will once again test the Wild’s depth, with sniper Mats Zuccarello, and veteran rearguards Alex Goligoski and Dmitry Kulikov all currently on the shelf. Despite the club’s recent adversity, Cam Talbot has been steady in the crease, allowing just five total goals while getting tagged with each of the team’s two recent losses.
