On the other side of the coin, the Predators continue to hold the first wild card spot in the Western Conference. Nashville even has a shot for the top three in the Central, so every point matters.

The Senators and Predators are playing twice over the next week. This is the first meeting between these two clubs since February of 2020. Nashville took that games by a score of 3-2.

Ottawa Senators
This will be an emotional game for the Senators considering the news of the passing of their owner Eugene Melnyk on Monday night. A tough season for Ottawa only gets tougher Tuesday night. Even though the Senators picked up a point on Saturday, they still lost six of their past eight games. Nothing has gone right for Ottawa this season. The Senators are 28th in offence, averaging 2.67 goals per game and 22nd in goals-against, allowing 3.25 per game.
The only bright spots have been the play of Brady Tkachuk, Anton Forsberg, Josh Norris, and Tim Stutzle. Tkachuk leads the team with 46 points, while Stutzle is putting up career numbers in just his second season in the NHL. Ottawa is never out of any game when Forsberg is between the pipes. There is a reason why the Sens signed Forsberg to an extension.
Nashville Predators
The Predators continue to have an amazing season. Nobody expected Nashville to be in this position. It helps when players like Matt Duchene, Mikael Granlund, and Ryan Johansen are scoring and putting up points. Duchene leads all Preds forwards with 67 points. Right behind him is Filip Forsberg with 65 points, while Granlund has 50 and Johansen has 49. Tanner Jeannot is chipping in as well with 39 points, including six in his last six games. Nashville is averaging 3.26 goals per game.
Nashville is 12th in goals-against, allowing 2.91 per game, with Roman Josi anchoring the defence. Josi leads all Predators players with 81 points and is on a 13-game point streak. It also helps to have Juuse Saros in between the pipes. Saros is one of the tops in the league with 2.58 goals-against average and .920 save percentage.
