Lengthy losing streaks will be on the line on Saturday when the Los Angeles Kings play host to the Ottawa Senators. The Kings return to action after being dominated in a 6-2 loss to Toronto on Wednesday that extended their current slide to five games. Things have not gone much better for the Senators, who make the short trip to Staples Center after seeing their current losing streak stretch to four games with Friday afternoon’s 4-0 defeat in Anaheim.

Despite their recent struggles, the Kings look to Saturday night’s contest perched as strong -200 home favourites on the NHL odds board. The Senators extend a lengthening run of 47 straight road games pegged as betting underdogs as they hit the ice sporting +166 odds.

Senators vs. Kings NHL Betting Odds

Saturday night’s matchup marks the second meeting of the season between these clubs. The Kings skated away with a 2-0 victory at Canadian Tire Centre back on Nov. 11, marking the first time they have tallied consecutive victories over the Senators since December 2017. The Kings have produced mixed results in recent home dates with Ottawa, posting wins in just three of their past six, but have topped Ottawa in five of eight overall clashes. Low scoring has been commonplace in recent matchups, with total goals topping 5.0 just twice over their past nine. Home favourites have also struggled to pay out, earning the win in just three of seven head-to-head contests overall. However, the Kings have proven more reliable, picking up the win over Ottawa in eight of their past nine as home chalk.

Ottawa Senators

A week-long break that enabled the Senators to overcome a recent COVID-19 outbreak has failed to breathe new life into the club. Winners in just one of eight contests prior to the shutdown, the Senators have returned to action with three straight losses on the road. Shutting down opposing shooters has emerged as a massive problem for this club, which has surrendered 5.25 goals per game during their current four-game losing streak, and now ranks dead-last in the NHL with a bloated team goals-against average of 3.83. Success has been particularly elusive on the road, where the Senators have lost six straight, and seven of eight this season.

Los Angeles Kings

Opportunity knocks for the Kings as they seek to end a five-game slide that features losses in four straight home contests. The current campaign has been marked by streaky results. The Kings won seven straight after losing six straight overall, a streak they wish to avoid matching on Saturday. Los Angeles’ top shooters have been missing in action during their current slump. Phillip Danault has been held pointless in five straight outings after recording a point per game over his previous eight outings. Anze Kopitar has contributed just two total goals over his past 15 outings but is overdue for a breakthrough against the Senators after scoring just once over his past 12 meetings.
