Carolina is in a skid of their own, as they try to regain top seed in the Central Division after losing four of their past five games.

The Hurricanes are -317 favourites to win on the NHL odds with a total of 6.0.

Senators vs. Hurricanes NHL Betting Odds

The Senators and Hurricanes meet in Carolina for the first of three head-to-heads this season. They have met five times since 2019. Carolina has taken three of those games, including the most recent meeting, an 8-2 smacking on Nov. 11, 2019. Three of the past five games have gone Under.

Ottawa has not covered in any of their past six games as their record has dropped to 7-13 against the spread. Their record on the Over/Under is not as lopsided at 9-10, but four of their past five games have hit the over. They allow more goals per game than anyone in the league, averaging 3.65 goals against per game.

Carolina has only covered in two of their past 10 games. They were having a good year against the spread until they slipped in December, putting their record to 10-11 ATS. The Canes are only allowing 2.1 goals against per game, third best in the league, helping them to a consistent 7-12 Over/Under record.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators lost 6-2 at home last night to a very beatable Vancouver Canucks team. Goaltender Filip Gustavsson allowed six goals on 35 shots as Senators dropped their sixth straight game.

The newest member of the team, waiver wire pickup Adam Gaudette, scored an early power-play goal in his first game with Ottawa.

Leading point scorer Drake Batherson returned last night after missing five games because he was on the COVID protocol list. He finished the game with one penalty and 18 minutes of time on ice.

Ottawa has just one win in their last 10 games overall. They’ve only won once in nine road contests this year.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes ended November by losing four of their last five games, finishing the month 7-5-2. Their recent struggles have knocked them out of first place in the Central Division.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi scored the lone goal in their most recent loss, a 4-1 decision against Dallas on Tuesday night. The former Canadien is heating up with three goals and an assist over his past three games after having only four points through the first 18 games of the year.

After playing only three home games in November, the Hurricanes open December with a pair of games at home against two of the league’s bottom feeders, Ottawa next, then Buffalo.
