Calgary still has a chance to make the playoffs, but’s it’s getting tighter every day.  They can, however, pick up two valuable points at home on Monday against the bottom team in the North Division, the Ottawa Senators.

The Flames are -220 favourites to win on the NHL odds with a total of 6.0.

Senators vs. Flames Betting Analysis

Calgary needs a better performance against Ottawa than they’ve been able to show so far this season.  The Sens have taken five of seven meetings against the Flames, including the last three.  Calgary hasn’t beaten Ottawa since a 7-3 decision at home on March 4.

The Senators have been brutal on the road this year, going 6-16 outside of Ottawa.  They’ve been the underdog every single game this season and they’ve gone 26-19 against the spread.  The Sens have gone Under the total in 10 of their last 14 games overall, but it’s worth noting they’ve actually hit the Over in five of their last six road games.

It hasn’t been an easy year for Calgary, but they’ve at least managed to stay a game above .500 at home.  They’re 20-24 ATS and have only covered in nine of 20 games at the Saddledome.  The Flames have gone Under the total in four of their last five games overall, but they’ve hit the Over in six of their last eight home games against Ottawa.

Ottawa Senators

Ottawa actually did Calgary a favour on Saturday by shutting out Montreal 4-0.  Josh Norris and Tim Stutzle continue to climb the rookie scoring leaderboard.  Norris had two assists against the Habs and is third in rookie scoring with 27 points (12G, 15A).  Stutzle picked up one apple on Saturday and is fourth in rookie scoring with 23 points (7G, 16A).  Drake Batherson continued his breakout season with two goals and an assist.  Batherson (15G, 13A) is in a three-way with Brady Tkachuk (14G, 14A) and Thomas Chabot (4G, 24A) for the team lead in points with 28 apiece.  Matt Murray is expected to get the start again on Monday after posting his first shutout of the season on Saturday.  Murray is 8-13-1 with a 3.62 goals-against average and .886 save percentage.

Calgary Flames

The Flames are coming off a disappointing trip to Montreal, which saw them split a two-game set with the Habs.  They still have a chance to catch the Canadiens in the standings, but they need to start stringing together some wins.  Elias Lindholm picked up the lone goal for Calgary on Saturday.  Lindholm leads the team with 38 points (12G, 16A) in 44 games.  Calgary needs some more production out of Johnny Gaudreau.  Johnny Hockey has 32 points and leads the team with 15 goals, but he’s only found the back of the net twice in his last five games.  Jacob Markstrom is expected to get his sixth straight between the pipes on Monday.  Markstrom is 15-15-2 on the season with a 2.79 GAA, a.903 SV and three shutouts.
