The Hawks did a great job at trading every asset at their disposal this season and that has sent them into a downward spiral. Battling through a four-game losing streak, Chicago is now only one point out of last place in the NHL, or as some would call it: first place in the Connor Bedard sweepstakes.

The Senators will be -274 favourites to win on the NHL odds on Monday, with the total sitting at 6.5. Puck drop from the United Center is set for 9 p.m. ET.

Senators vs. Blackhawks NHL Betting Odds

The Senators have had no luck in matchups versus the Blackhawks, beating Chicago most recently in December of 2016. The last time the teams met, just about a month ago, Ottawa blew a 3-1 lead in the third period, allowing the Hawks to crawl back and snag an overtime win. That game hit the Over, putting the Over at 4-1-1 in their past six meetings.

Ottawa has been scoring their way to victory, putting in at least five goals and playing the Over in each game of their current five-game win streak. Their record on the total has boosted up to 28-34 on the year while their record against the spread is an impressive 36-26. The division-leading Bruins are the only other team in the Atlantic that has been better ATS this season.

Chicago’s offence has been absent throughout their four-game skid, scoring two goals or less in each appearance, helping them fail to cover the spread. They now boast a 28-34 record ATS on the year, with a 32-29-1 record on the Over/Under.

Ottawa Senators

The Senators blueline stepped up big-time offensively in their most recent 5-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, scoring three of the team’s goals. Travis Hamonic scored twice and newly acquired Jakob Chychrun also scored in just his second game with the squad. Tim Stutzle was the only forward to score for Ottawa in the contest, notching two goals which were both assisted by defenceman Jake Sanderson. Cam Talbot made 19 saves picking up his third win in a row. After a battle with injuries, Talbot has earned Ottawa’s starting role in net, posting a 3-1 record since his return.

Stutzle has scored in four consecutive games now, picking up seven points along the stretch. He leads the team in goals (31) and points (66) and is on pace for 88 points, which would make him the highest-scoring Senator in almost 15 years.

The Sens will be opening a five-game road trip Monday in Chicago and will next play in Seattle on Thursday.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Hawks have already had two separate eight-game losing streaks this season and might be on the brink of another, after losing their past four games. Their most recent defeat came Saturday night at the hands of the Nashville Predators, by a score of 3-1.

Seth Jones (8) scored just 30 seconds into the game as the Hawks looked like they might snap the streak. But despite outshooting the Preds 28-25, Jones’ goal was all the offence Chicago would create.

After shipping off all of their offensive talents, Jones now leads the team with 29 points (8G, 21A) from the back end.

The only players the Hawks added at the deadline, defenceman Nikita Zaitsev and forward Anders Bjork, each made their debuts versus Nashville. Both guys played 16 minutes and recorded a blocked shot.

Chicago will hit the road after this one for a three-game Eastern Conference road trip starting on Wednesday in Detroit.
