Buffalo Sabres vs. Ottawa Senators Prediction, NHL Odds

This will be the second of three matchups between Buffalo and Ottawa. In October, Buffalo beat Ottawa by a score of 8-4. Just over two months later, these teams look to have cleaned things up and are climbing in the standings. They will each bring a strong effort into this game to stay hot and collect two points.

Sabres vs. Senators NHL Betting Odds

The Sabres have won six straight entering Tuesday. During their winning streak, Buffalo has outscored opponents by a combined 21-12. That average of 2.0 goals allowed per game is a big improvement from their 23rd-ranked 3.29 goals allowed per game on the season.

The Senators are also rolling as they have won their last four games. Ottawa has not played great at home, which could benefit Buffalo, which has won four of their last five on the road. Fortunately for the Senators, two of their last four wins were at home by a combined score of 10-4.

Buffalo Sabres

Buffalo has plenty of elite talent in their squad that consistently makes the team dangerous. Their eight goals scored on Ottawa in October is evidence of their offensive upside. But it has been their goal prevention that has largely limited their point percentage.

If the Sabres are going to continue ascending the Eastern Conference standings, their ability to sustain this current run of goal prevention will be key. It will be difficult on Tuesday as they face an Ottawa team that has scored 16 goals in its last three games. If the Sabres can limit the Senators and win this one, it will be validating for Buffalo and create even more belief.

Ottawa Senators

There have been several hot-and-cold teams through the first half of this NHL season. The Senators certainly qualify as one of those teams. Their current four-game winning streak follows a run in which Ottawa lost four out of five and six out of eight. In a crowded Eastern Conference playoff picture, the Senators really need to hold onto the consistency they have found in the last week.

Ottawa has had a few big performances help carry the team during this strong stretch of play. In their last five games, Brady Tkachuk has five goals and Tim Stützle has three goals and 10 points. With that, both players, along with Drake Batherson, average over a point per game. The Senators may need every bit of production from those guys to extend their winning streak.

NHL Prediction: Who Will Win Sabres vs. Senators?

There is a lot to like about both teams in this one. What gives the Sabres slightly more appeal is their recent organizational change. Last week, Buffalo fired their general manager, Kevyn Adams. The next day, the team owner made a rare appearance at the Sabres’ practice. There looks to be a new culture being created for the Sabres, and players are responding positively on the ice.

After the blockbuster Quinn Hughes trade, both Vancouver and Minnesota have been rolling. After the Adams firing, Buffalo has been rolling. When a team rides momentum from a positive change, with respect to Adams, they make for a difficult fade. Until they come back down to earth, the Sabres look to be a good play right now, even on the road. This should be another high-scoring affair with the Sabres winning 4-3.
